Team Wilderness is excited to announce Blazing a Trail: A Night Celebrating Empowering Youth Outdoors!

The event is taking place Thursday, September 26th from 6-9pm at The View at Lincoln Park.

Join us as we celebrate the leadership of our 2024 Honorees:

3. Richard Dwyer Jr., Retired Sr. Public Affairs Manager at PSE&G, Advanced AKC Therapy Dog Handler, Protect the Fire Brand Ambassador (speaker regarding career development and good decision-making for teens), Actor

Research confirms that direct contact with nature increases mental health, decreases toxic stress, and increases focus, positive thinking and self-confidence. Children and teens benefit from experiences in nature more than any other population, particularly in the area of academic performance. However, youth of color and urban youth in New Jersey are three times more likely to live in nature-deprived areas. Reviewed as a whole, this information paints a bleak picture for our urban teens.

We are closing this nature gap! In 2023, we served 530 youth in helping them discover the wilderness through outdoor excursions and engaged in over 8,600 hours outdoors!
