I have been leading this Thanksgiving morning hike at Tourne for several years for those that don't have to cook or whose plans are later in the day.
We will hike 5-6 miles starting with an incline to the Top of the Tourne. There are some mild ups and downs throughout this hike and we will pass by a small beach and two lakes. A small loop at the end with an additional incline (Evergreen Trail) brings the hike to about 6 miles, but one can easily drop out after mile 5. We will hike at a moderate social pace and no hiker will be left behind.
Rain/thunderstorms/aggressive bears or coyotes will cause this hike to be cancelled.
Bring: hiking boots, poles, water, snack.
**Note we are starting from the Boonton entrance**: use 93 McCaffrey Lane Boonton for Waze/GPS. When coming into the park on McCaffrey pass the first 2 small parking lots on the right and park in the 3rd lot which is on the left near the baseball field and large wooden covered picnic area. **\*\*If you enter from the Denville side you won't be able to drive to the parking lot and will need to walk about 0.5 miles to meet us on the Boonton side.**
\*\*Note\*\* We hike at a moderate pace, and never leave anyone behind. Our hikes are not suitable for fast hikers who like to forge ahead of the group.
