**{UPDATE: The group ticket coordinator is traveling to see family in Europe so we would need to get a group ticket purchase together by Nov. 17.}**
***[From Wikipedia] "Follies*** is a [musical](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_theater "Musical theater") with music and lyrics by [Stephen Sondheim](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Sondheim "Stephen Sondheim") and a book by [James Goldman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Goldman "James Goldman").
The plot centers on a crumbling [Broadway theater](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadway_theater "Broadway theater"), now scheduled for demolition, previously home to a musical [revue](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revue "Revue") (based on the *[Ziegfeld Follies](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziegfeld_Follies "Ziegfeld Follies")*). The evening follows a reunion of the Weismann Girls who performed during the [interwar period](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interwar_period "Interwar period"). Several of the former showgirls perform their old numbers, often accompanied by the ghosts of their younger selves. The score offers a [pastiche](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastiche "Pastiche") of 1920s and 1930s musical styles, evoking a nostalgic tone.
The original Broadway production, directed by [Harold Prince](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Prince "Harold Prince") and [Michael Bennett](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Bennett_(theater) "Michael Bennett (theater)"), with choreography by Bennett, opened April 4, 1971. The musical was nominated for 11 [Tony Awards](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Award "Tony Award") and won seven.
The musical has had a number of major revivals, and several of its songs have become [standards](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_(music) "Standard (music)"), including "Broadway Baby", "[I'm Still Here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_Still_Here_(Follies_song) "I'm Still Here (Follies song)")", "Too Many Mornings", "[Could I Leave You?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Could_I_Leave_You%3F_(song) "Could I Leave You? (song)")", and "[Losing My Mind](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Losing_My_Mind "Losing My Mind")"."
No, **I am not in this show**, but it is the **same group** that brought you **"The Sound of Music"** which I WAS in back in February. (However, this show will be at a **different location** in Glen Ridge.)
Because of all my inside connections and backroom dealings in smoke-filled rooms, **I have negotiated a "special deal" for our group.** Tickets online are $25 PLUS an annoying $2.25 fee. But if we have a group of 10 or more, we can get a 10% discount, and if we hit 20 tickets, we can get 20% off! PLUS, we can avoid the very annoying ticket fee. (If **anyone is willing to be the money collector,** please let me know.)
As with all plays, you need to **do your own research.** Unlike movies, stage plays don't have a rating system and often don't have as much scrutiny. (I have never seen this show so I don't know how "family-friendly" it is.)
