Welcome to the Barry Harris Harmony Workshop!

Rutgers University and Harmony Lab at Express Newark proudly collaborates with the Barry Harris Institute of Jazz to offer a series of piano/harmony workshops based on Barry Harris's unique pedagogical insights. Barry Harris is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz educators/musicians in American History. Harris’s approach to jazz harmony, and in particular his methodology concerning chord movement, has inspired thousands of musicians all over the world. We are pleased to offer the Barry Harris Harmony Workshop for the NJ/NY jazz community.

We are located on the second floor of the Hahne & Company building. The building atrium may be entered on Broad St. or Halsey St. The Hahne & Co. building also houses Whole Foods and various other businesses.

Parking

The Hahne & Co. parking garage, located on the basement level and entered on New Street, provides limited parking for an hourly fee. Other parking options include metered street parking, private garages, and lots on Washington Street and Halsey Street.

Public Transportation

Newark Penn Station is less than 1 mile away for access to NJ Transit, PATH, and Amtrak trains.

Broad Street Station is 1/2 mile away for access to NJ Transit trains. Via Newark Light Rail, Military Park, and Washington Street Stations are nearby.

There is a NJ Transit bus stop at Broad and New Streets.
