Yankee Stadium: From the Organ Bench with Ed Alstrom

Ed Alstrom is in his 21st season as the Weekend Organist at Yankee Stadium. In this presentation, he will talk about that job, demonstrate how it gets done, and tell stories about his experiences at the Stadium. The program will fascinate Yankee fans and baseball fans in general who would like a ‘behind-the-scenes’ glance at an oft-overlooked part of the baseball experience.

Ed has had a rich and extremely diverse musical career. He is currently the Music Director/Organist at Central Presbyterian Church in Montclair, and Accompanist/Choir Director at Temple Ner Tamid in Bloomfield. Ed is a graduate of Westminster Choir College. He continues to play all kinds of music on all kinds of gigs in the NJ/NY area. Ed has performed with Bette Midler, Chuck Berry, Leonard Bernstein, Herbie Hancock, Odetta, Dion, Ronnie Spector, Zubin Mehta, Steely Dan, Blood Sweat and Tears, and many other notables. His Broadway experience includes a stint as Associate Conductor on Hairspray, as well as Leader Of The Pack, Smokey Joe’s Café, Taboo, Brooklyn, Catch Me If You Can and Hot Feet; Off-Broadway, he has been Musical Director for Dream A Little Dream (The Mamas & Papas Musical). Ed has just release a new blues album titles FLEE THOUGH NONE PURSUE, which is at the top of many blues charts.
