On July 20, 2023, at approximately 9:05 a.m., Police Officers Arturo Gonzalez, Jonathan
Figueroa, and Anthony Olivera responded to 12 Hudson Pl., on reports of a man who forced his
way into one of the businesses inside, damaging the door, and was found sleeping on a couch
inside but left before officers arrived. Lt. Keith Rotondi and Sgt. Adam Colon arrived and spoke
with a witness who followed the man, later identified as 36-year-old Kashif Lamar Cameron of
Ewing, to the TD Bank, 47 Newark St., where Cameron was located and detained by officers. He
was placed under arrest for burglary, criminal mischief, and criminal trespassing. He was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing and taken to the Hudson County
Correctional Facility.
On July 20, 2023, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Sgt. Adam Colon and Police Officers Arturo
Gonzalez, Nicholas Detrizio, and Shelby Seickendick detained a man on the 200 block of
Washington Street, after reports that he had damaged property at the Smoke Shop, 404
Washington St. A store employee followed the suspect, 30-year-old Glenn Harris of Brooklyn,
and pointed him out to officers, who detained him. Investigation revealed that Harris walked out
of the Smoke Shop, and purposefully slammed the door, causing the windowpane to shatter.
Harris was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters to be processed.
He was charged with criminal mischief and released on a summons.
On July 21, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Police Officers Harold Milne and Samuel Flores
responded to Church Square Park, 400 Garden St., on reports of a man exposing himself in the
park. Officers located the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Damont Dyer of North Bergen,
who officers recognized as having a warrant for a similar incident in June. Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez
arrived on scene to assist. Dyer was charged with criminal sexual contact, transported to
Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing, and taken to the Hudson County Correctional
facility.
On July 21, 2023, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Sgt. Adam Colon, and Police Officers Nathaniel
Arocho and David Chicara responded to BCB Bank, 1100 Washington St., on reports of a
woman attempting to open an account using fake identification. Officers approached the woman,
identified as 37-year-old Salomes Rengifo-Jackson of Cliffside Park, who provided false
information when asked for her identity. Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez and Detective Michael Losurdo
arrived on scene to assist. Rengifo-Jackson was arrested and charged with falsifying records,
falsifying government identification, forgery, and identify theft. A search incident to arrest of
Rengifo-Jackson, officers found two debit cards that belonged to other people. She was released
from custody with a court date.
On July 22, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., Police Officer Rose Kanan responded to the 400
block of Washington Street for reports of a man sitting on a bench, with his pants down. Upon
arrival the officer observed a man fitting the suspect’s description, later identified as 30-year-old
Mark Kimelman of Secaucus, in the area with his pants all the way up. It was discovered
Kimelman had a warrant out of Hudson County. He was placed under arrest and transported to
the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department for processing.
On July 22, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Police Officer John Cirillo processed the arrest of
26-year-old Jourdan Maldonado of Jersey City. Jersey City Police Officers dropped Maldonado
off at Hoboken Police Headquarters for two warrants out of Hoboken, for failing to appear. He
was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On July 22, 2023, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Police Officers Rose Kanan and Harold Milne
responded to Rosticeria Da Gigi, 916 Washington St. on reports of a man tugging on the front
door. When officers arrived, they located the man, later identified as 27-year-old Tajay Turner of
Hillside, who did not listen to requests to stop and assist in the investigation and began to walk
away. When officers tried to detain him, he became aggressive and combative, at one point
knocking one officer to the ground and biting the other on the finger. Both officers were treated
for minor injuries. Whie being transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, Turner kicked the
door several times, causing minor damage to the vehicle. He was found to have three outstanding
warrants; two out of Little Ferry and one out of Wayne. Turner was charged with aggravated
assault, obstructing the administration of the law, resisting arrest, bail jumping, and criminal
mischief and then remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On July 23, 2023, at approximately 7:55 p.m. Police Officers Joshua Campoverde and Joseph
Spano responded to ShopRite at 900 Madison St. On the report of a shoplifting perpetrated by
one male who fled the scene and one female who security had in custody. Upon arrival the loss
prevention officer explained that he observed two separate shoplifting incidents on the
surveillance camera in which the female, later identified as 29-year-old Tonisha Eddington of
Hoboken, placed 31 items totaling $165.51 into her shopping cart and attempted to leave without
paying. Eddington was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. She was transported to
police headquarters for processing and released on a summons.
On July 25, 2023, at approximately 4:01 p.m., Police Officer Joshua Campoverde was
dispatched to ShopRite at 900 Madison St. On response to a shoplifting incident. A man later
identified as 26-year-old Michael Reilly of Hoboken purchased a few items at self-checkout but
attempted to exit the store without paying for several other items in his cart totaling $184.29.
Reilly was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. He was taken to Police
Headquarters for processing and released on a summons.
On July 25, 2023, at approximately 1:48 p.m. Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Joshua
Campoverde responded to ShopRite at 900 Madison St. on a report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival,
they met with the loss prevention manager who stated that he observed a male, later identified as
25-year-old Christian Mejia-Santos of Guttenberg, place several items of merchandise in his
backpack and attempt to leave without paying totaling $115.04. Police Officer Bernardo Munoz
placed Mejia-Santos under arrest. During a search to arrest, Officer Munoz found a glass-
cylinder pipe burnt on one side with copper mesh placed at the tip and a push rod commonly
used to smoke CDS. Mejia-Santos was transported to police headquarters for processing and
charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.
On July 26, 2023, at approximately 6:09 p.m. Police Officers Nicklas Valerius responded to the
200 block of Park Avenue on the report of an assault that took place inside a residence and met
with Sgt. Rory Miller who was speaking with the victim and a witness. The victim, who was
punched several times in the face, identified the perpetrator as a neighbor who had rang his bell
previously several times to complain about a laser being shined into his apartment. The victim
and his real-estate agent, were showing his apartment when the perpetrator, identified as 54-yearold Anthony Marrone of Jersey City, walked into the victim’s apartment asked whose apartment
it was and when the victim responded that it was his apartment Marrone struck him in the face
and muttered about a laser before leaving the scene. The victim was treated on scene for minor
bruising and swelling around the eye by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The
following day, on July 27, 2023, Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Jason Montalvo arrested
Marrone at 10:19 a.m. at his residence across the street. He was charged with Burglary and
Simple Assault and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On July 26, 2023, at approximately 7:08 p.m. Police Officers Harold Milne and Mark
Mooreman were patrolling near Third and Garden Streets when they observed a large group
beginning to form near Cork City Pub, at 239 Bloomfield St. The officers saw a man lying on the
ground with another actively assaulting him with his hands. When the officers arrived, they saw
a man, shirtless and bleeding, lying unconscious on the ground near the front of the bar. Officer
Mooreman tended to the unconscious man while Officer Milne approached the group. Witnesses
at the scene identified another shirtless male as an individual involved in the fight and Officer
Milne temporarily detained him while additional officers arrived on the scene to assist in the
investigation. At this time, officers were informed by a Cork City patron that another individual
was responsible for rending the man unconscious, but he had left the scene, and provided officers
with a description. Officers located the individual near Second and Washington Streets and
stopped the man, later identified as 48-year-old Quincy Short of Jersey City. Short explained to
officers that he was approached by both men in an aggressive manner. While Short attempted to
remove himself from the situation the individuals attacked him, and he stated that he fought back
in self-defense. Short was arrested and a search of his person found him to be in possession of a
white powdery substance of suspected cocaine. Short was charged with aggravated assault,
possession of CDS cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also found to have
two open warrants out for Cranford and Roselle. He was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. The injured man
refused medical treatment at the scene. Both he and the temporarily detained individual were
released from the scene.
