On March 17, 2023, at 6:13 pm, Millburn Police Officer Manuyag responded to Sunglass Hut at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of theft. Sunglass Hut associates reported that Brianny Fernandez, age 25, of Bronx, NY, concealed four pairs of sunglasses and left the store without paying, total value $1406.00. Fernandez was located in the mall, arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was later released on his own recognizance.

On March 18, 2023, at 4:58 pm, Millburn Police Officer Manuyag responded to Sunglass Hut at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of theft. Sunglass Hut associates reported that Elena Lobo, age 51, of Chatham, concealed one pair of sunglasses and left the store without paying, total value $345.00. Lobo was located in the mall by Officers Jezewski and Bifano, arrested and charged with shoplifting. She was later released on her own recognizance.

On March 18, 2023, at 5:19 pm, Millburn Police Officer Manuyag responded to Gucci at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of theft. Gucci associates reported an unknown female shoplifted six Gucci belts, total value $2650.00. Detective DeRosa conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of Daja Harper, age 24, of Newark. Harper was charged with shoplifting and later released on her own recognizance.

On March 19, 2023, at 1:51 pm. Millburn Police Officer Kerwien located a stolen 2021 Hyundai Elantra parked in the parking lot of The Upton, 1 Fineran Way. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Newark. The vehicle was impounded and remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On March 20, 2023, at 12:52 am Millburn Police Officer Lyons observed a dark colored BMW X3 travelling at a high rate of speed on South Orange Ave. The investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from an Elmwood Road residence earlier that evening and the key fob was left in the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in Maplewood. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On March 20, 2023 Millburn Police Officers Ford and Dalakian took reports of burglary to auto on Kenilworth Drive and Lawrence Drive. Detectives Salemi and Mendelsohn responded to both scenes to investigate. With assistance of Kearny PD, Millburn Detectives were able to identify two suspects. The investigation led to the arrest of Daniel Chipelo, age 19, of Mount Carmel, PA and Jason Cathcart, age 20, of Kearny. Chipelo was charged with Burglary and Conspiracy and remanded to Essex County Correctional Facility. Cathcart was charged with burglary and later released on his own recognizance. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On March 24, 2023 at 3:30 pm, Millburn Police Officer Matos stopped a 2005 Lexus at the Mall at Short Hills for motor vehicle violation. The investigation led to the arrest of the passenger, who attempted to walk away from the vehicle and then resisted arrest. Keside Azu, age 26, of Union, was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on an officer. He was later released on his own recognizance. The driver was summonsed and released at the scene.

On March 24, 2023 at 6:35 pm, Millburn Police Officer Carroll responded to a Par 440, on Parsonage Hill Road on a report of burglary to motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that unknown actors broke the window of an Audi Q5 and stole two purses from the vehicle. The actors also attempted to break the window on another adjacent vehicle. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On March 24, 2023 at 11:00 am, Millburn Police Officer Aliotta responded to a Browning Road on a report of a suspicious motor vehicle driving slowly and pausing at driveways. Shortly after, Sgt McMillan observed the vehicle on White Oak Ridge Road and attempted to stop it on Route 24 east. The vehicle then fled onto Route 78 east. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On March 25, 2023, at 1:30 pm, Millburn Police Officer Shanahan located a wanted vehicle in the Mall at Short Hills owned by a female that had open warrants. The investigation led to the arrest of Daja Harper, age 24, of Newark for theft and open warrants from five jurisdictions. Harper was charged with shoplifting and later released to Wayne PD on a warrant.

On March 27, 2023 at 10:40 am, Millburn Police Officer Dalakian responded to a 187 Millburn Ave on a report of attempted burglary to motor vehicle. The reporting person stated that unknown actors attempted to enter an Audi Q7 and identified a suspect vehicle as a white Acura TLX. At 10:41, the same suspect vehicle was reported on Locust Ave attempting to enter other vehicles. Officer Kerwien located the suspect vehicle on Wyoming Ave travelling north. Kerwien attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle fled. Kerwien pursued the vehicle but had to terminate due to safety concerns. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty in a court of law.
