On Monday, May 15, 2023, Kearny Mayor Alberto G. Santos, and the Town Council along with the Recreation Commission and Department held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly resurfaced Corbett Roller Hockey Facility located in the Passaic Riverbank along the Passaic River. Built in 2001, the Corbet Roller Hockey Facility has been a home for youth hockey and enjoyed by generations of residents and hockey players. The repairs and resurfacing of the roller hockey facility were completed on May 12, 2023, with the Recreation Department planning and managing the construction of the project, funded by the Hudson County Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. The renovation and rehabilitation of the roller hockey facility will improve safety for players and coaches and enhance the recreation hockey program offered to children and families in the community. The Corbett Roller Hockey Facility provides residents with a unique recreational opportunity and is the only facility dedicated solely to roller and street hockey in West Hudson.
