Theft
July 25, 2023 (Bloomfield Avenue): The manager at CVS Pharmacy reported that he observed male party in the store grabbing items off multiple shelves and placing them inside a canvass hallmark bag. He was last seen on South Park Street. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his forties, wearing a camouflage style jacket, black pants, black sneakers, and a black hat. The male was carrying a hallmark bag as well as a black backpack. The manager was able to determine that there were forty-four items missing from the shelves where the male suspect was seen. These items included Olay moisturizers, Loreal moisturizers, and miscellaneous makeup products totaling $580.66.

July 26, 223 (Church Street): An employee of Montclair Antique Center discovered a white gold diamond ring valued at $1450.00 was missing. After reviewing surveillance footage, she discovered the theft occurred on July 19, 2023 when a male and female suspect were seen taking the item.

Motor Vehicle Crime
July 25, 2023 (Bloomfield Avenue): A driver for Uber Eats reported that she left her vehicle running and unattended while she entered ‘Tacoria’ to pick up an order. When she exited, she observed her vehicle fleeing north on North Willow Street. It was recovered in Paterson, NJ the following day. A 20-year-old male from Garfield and an 18-year-old male from North Arlington were charged by Passaic County Authorities.

July 26, 2023 (Park Street): A 2017 BMW X5 was stolen from a driveway on Park Street. The vehicle had been left unattended and running. It was recovered on July 30, 2023 in Newark.

July 27, 2023 (Central Avenue): The victim reported that her 2021 BMW X7 was stolen during the overnight hours. It was recovered the following day by the NYPD. Three males from Newark were charged by the NYPD.

July 27, 2023 (Bloomfield Avenue): The complainant reported that his 2023 Volkswagen Atlas was stolen from the Palace Car Wash. He reported that while he was waiting for it to dry, two Hispanic males entered the vehicle and fled east on Bloomfield Avenue. It was recovered on August 1, 2023 in Newark.

Entered Vehicles
During the week of July 25, 2023 through August 1, 2023, unlocked vehicles were entered on Alexander Avenue, Claremont Avenue, and Bloomfield Avenue. In one of the Claremont Avenue incidents, entry was forced by shattering a passenger side window. The victim reported six rings valued at a total of about $3,000.00 and a necklace, with an attached pendant, valued at around $1,500.00 were stolen from the car.

Burglary
July 27, 2023 (Llewellyn Road): The resident reported that he discovered several items missing from his residence. First, $2,000.00 and bottles of alcohol were reported missing. Next, he discovered money missing from his wife’s purse and his daughter’s Louis Vitton purse was missing. Upon investigating, he discovered a kitchen window open and a Home Depot bucket underneath the window. It appears this is how the suspect made entry into the home.

Robbery
July 29, 2023 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim reported that he was sitting on a bench in the area of Park Street and Bloomfield Avenue when he was approached by a white male described as 5'11” in height, medium build, while wearing a black shirt. The suspect began verbally harassing the victim for money. The suspect eventually struck the victim in the face and stole his wallet which contained $120.00 in cash. The suspect fled north on Park Street.

Arrests
July 25, 2023 (Glenridge Avenue): A 51-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Burglary after being observed entering unlocked vehicles on Glenridge Avenue.

July 28, 2023 (Glenridge Avenue): Officers responded to a Glenridge Avenue address on a report of a male sleeping on the sidewalk. Officers determined the male should be medically evaluated. Montclair EMS responded and the male refused treatment and walked away. Shortly thereafter, the male returned and spat in the face of the EMS worker. The suspect then fled on foot but was apprehended by Officers. A 43-year-old male from Newark was charged with Aggravated Assault (Throwing Bodily Fluids) and Resisting Arrest.
