Guttenberg Police Blotter - July 31st, 2023 to August 6th, 2023

1. On July 31st, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 36-year-old Eddy J. Nunez-Coste of Paterson, NJ, after discovering that he had an outstanding warrant out of South Hackensack, NJ. Mr. Nunez-Coste was transported to our police headquarters for processing and then released on his own recognizance, pending a new court date with the South Hackensack Municipal Court.

2. On August 3rd, 2023, while engaged in the proactive patrol of the local taverns on Bergenline Avenue, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division observed two males fighting near La Perla Del Sur, located at 6714 Bergenline Avenue. Officers immediately intervened and arrested 43-year-old Jose S. Gomez-Perez of Union City, NJ, and 39-year-old Josue M. Armira Juarez of Guttenberg, NJ. Mr. Gomez-Perez and Mr. Armira Juarez were both charged with simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)] and disorderly conduct [2C:33-2A]. After completing their arrest processing, they were both issued their complaint summons and released from police custody.

3. On August 3rd, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau and Patrol Division located and apprehended 32-year-old Caitlin J. Potvin of Guttenberg, NJ, who had an active criminal warrant out of our jurisdiction. On July 28th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 140 71st Street for a report of a large street fight. As a result of the criminal investigation conducted by members of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Ms. Potvin was charged with aggravated assault [2C:12-1B(1)], terroristic threats [2C:12-3A], simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)], harassment [2C:33-4B], hindering apprehension [2C:29-3B(4)], and disorderly conduct [2C:33-2A(1)]. Upon the completion of her arrest processing, Ms. Potvin was issued her complaint warrant and then lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

4. On August 4th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division located an idling vehicle with the driver slumped over the steering wheel. During the on-scene investigation, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested 50-year-old Celestino Bravo-Alvarado of Union City, NJ. Mr. Bravo-Alvarado was charged with driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Bravo-Alvarado was issued his summons and released from police custody.

The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
