Guttenberg Police Blotter - August 21st, 2023 to August 27th, 2023

1. On August 23rd, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 68th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard East, for a report of a suspicious male who had jumped over a fence into a backyard. Once on scene, officers met with the accused male, who they discovered had an active criminal warrant from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. At that time, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested 54-year-old Carlos E. LaCruz of Guttenberg, NJ. Mr. LaCruz was later transported to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and turned over into their custody.

2. On August 23rd, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 68th Street and Bergenline Avenue for a report of an elderly male being assaulted. Once on the scene, officers received information that the accused male was possibly inside of a dental office nearby. Officers located the accused, who subsequently admitted to assaulting the victim. At that time, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested 18-year-old Elijah A. Dupoux for simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)]. Mr. Dupoux was transported to Guttenberg Police headquarters for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Dupoux was issued his complaint summons and then released from police custody.

3. On August 24th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 27-year-old Alfredo Coy Elias of North Bergen, NJ. Mr. Coy Elias was transported and processed at Guttenberg Police headquarters for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Coy Elias was issued his summons and released from police custody.

4. On August 26th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 32-year-old Erlin N. Duarte Seguero of West New York, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50] and for an active warrant out of the Guttenberg Municipal Court. At Guttenberg Police headquarters, Mr. Duarte Seguero was processed for driving while intoxicated and posted the full bail amount of $550.00 for the active warrant. He was then issued his summons and released on his own recognizance.

5. On August 26th, 2023, the Guttenberg Police Department was contacted by members of the Englewood Cliffs Police Department, informing us that they had arrested 49-year-old Fredrick Salerno Jr. of Edgewater, NJ, after confirming that he had an active warrant out of the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Englewood Cliffs police headquarters and took custody of Mr. Salerno Jr. He was then transported to our police headquarters for arrest processing. At our police headquarters, Mr. Salerno Jr. was able to post bail in the amount of $750.00. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Salerno Jr. was released on his own recognizance.

6. On August 26th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 51-year-old Gerardo Lorza Tabares of Clifton, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Lorza Tabares was then transported to our police headquarters for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Lorza Tabares was issued his summons and released from police custody.

7. On August 27th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 36-year-old Victor H. Saavedra Morales of North Bergen, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Saavedra Morales was then transported to our police headquarters for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Saavedra Morales was issued his summons and released from police custody.

The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
