SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, performs routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of municipal grounds, buildings, parks and other Town properties, using a variety of machines, tools and equipment. Work includes painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, plastering and glazing, as well as other work as may be assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plasters and paints interior and exterior walls and trim, using paint and painting tools.
- Performs general carpentry work.
- As assigned, operates snow removal equipment to maintain streets, sidewalks and driveways.
- Assist with repairs or replaces building brick, stone and concrete.
- Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings, using carpentry tools.
- Replaces worn or damages parts, such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

- High School Diploma required or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years general work experience in related area.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
- Must have a valid New Jersey driver's license free from motor vehicle convictions for the last three (3) years.
- Knowledge of the standard tools, materials, methods, and practices and of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in performing general maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions; to take needed safety precautions in performing the work; to obtain, store, safeguard, distribute and properly use needed equipment, materials and supplies, and to maintain simple records.
- Applicants should be prepared to work a shift schedule which may involve evening/night or weekend work.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. The duties require excellent physical dexterity to be able to fit into confined spaces and trenches, as may be required.
