Millburn Police Press Release September 25 2023

Case updates September 25, 2023

On September 9, 2023 at 11:28 pm, NJ State police contacted Millburn PD to report that they had a female in custody, at the American dream mall with an active Millburn arrest warrant. Officer Lyons responded to American Dream Mall to arrest Brianna Philmore, age 23, out of Newark, on the Milburn warrant, for failure to appear in court. She was brought to Essex County correctional facility.

On September 9, 2023, at 7:25 pm, Millburn Police Officer Palmer responded to Chanel boutique inside Neiman Marcus, at the mall at Short Hills for a report of a shoplifting theft that just occurred. Chanel associates reported that 6 individuals all wearing face masks rushed into the store and selected 24 various Chanel handbags (total value $127,625.00) off display shelves, and ripping them off security cables, and then ran out of the store through the Neiman Marcus Valet entrance. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On September 10, 2023, at 4:05 pm, Millburn Police Officer Jezewski responded to Sunglass Hut at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of shoplifting. Sunglass Hut associates reported that a known female customer concealed Burberry sunglass, value $281, and left the store without paying. The female suspect is later seen exiting the mall in blue Mercedes Benz. Officer Jezewski contacted the suspect Kirti Jain, age 45 of Edison NJ, who responded back to Millburn Police HQ with the stolen sunglasses. She also turned over two pairs of sun glasses that were stolen from Macys. Kirti Jain was charged with two counts of shoplifting and release on her own recognizance.

On September 15, 2023 at 12:15 am, Millburn Police Officer Recinos located a stolen vehicle parked on Western drive, with three actors entering the vehicle, who were running from a Western drive residence. The vehicle was a stolen 2023 BMW M44. The vehicle is wanted by multiple jurisdictions for burglaries. Officer Recinos attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle fled. Officer Recinos pursued the vehicle, onto Rt 24 east, but shortly after had to terminate due to safety concerns. The three suspects were attempting to break into the Western drive residence as the officer pulled up. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On September 17, 2023 at 5:27 pm Officer Jezewski and Officer Griffin responded to Short Hills Mall on a report of a disorderly male harassing other mall patrons. It was reported that he was cursing and shouting at other patrons. He followed one female around the mall. Officers were able to locate the disorderly male who continued to shout at people and act aggressively. Officers walked him to an exterior vestibule, while they conducted a record check of the suspect. The record check revealed that he had an active warrant out of Essex County. Shamar Brown, age 31, of Newark was placed under arrest on the warrant, and was then lodged in Essex County jail.

On September 19, 10:05 am Officer O’Neil arrested a male attending Millburn Municipal court session. Ronald Fann, age 42, of Newark. Had an active East Orange warrant. He was processed and turned over to East Orange police department.

On September 21, 2023, at 09:33 Millburn Police Officer Catinella met with a Dorison Drive resident at on a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The resident reported that he had video that showed at 02:16 am a male actor arrives to his residence in a white Acura MDX, the suspect entered his unlocked BMW X5 and attempted to start it, but was unsuccessful. He stole a pair of sunglasses and a bag of cosmetics. (Valued at $700.00) He then attempted to open another vehicle in the driveway, but it was locked. The male then fled in a white Acura MDX. It was later learned that the suspect vehicle was stolen out of Lyndhurst on 09/16/23. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On September 22, 2023, at 05:15 am Millburn Police Officer Kostovski responded to a White Oak Ridge Rd residence on a report of a burglary to the home. Officers discovered that unknown actor entered the home through an unlocked garage window. The homeowner’s vehicle 2023 Range Rover sport was stolen from the garage. The key fob was missing from a hook inside the garage. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On September 22, 2023, at 07:50 pm Millburn Police Officer Zonn and Officer Seebohm responded to Bloomingdales on a report of a female that just made a purchase for $721.55 with counterfeit US currency. She presented 8 $100 counterfeit bills. Officer Seebohm located the female in Prim Marcato restaurant. The investigation led to the arrest of Leukar Encarnacion, age 35, of Corona NY. She was charged with theft by deception, and forgery and released on her own recognizance.

On September 22, 2023 at 11:44 pm Officer Recinos responded to Cheese Cake Factory at the Short Hills Mall on a report of an employee that stole a set of knives and toilet paper. The employee Ronickson Barthelus, age 31 of Roselle was located in the parking lot. A record check of the employee was conducted, which confirmed an active warrant for his arrest out of Roselle. Six rolls of toilet paper were located in his back pack. He was arrested and transported to Millburn HQ. He was later released by Roselle with a new court date.

On September 23, 2023, at 07:50 am Millburn Police Officer Ford responded to an Old Hollow rd. residence on a report of burglary to a vehicle. The owner reported that someone entered her unlocked 2021 white Mercedes Benz. This occurred sometime overnight. There was nothing missing. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On September 24, 2023 at 09:04 pm, Millburn Police Officer Seebohm responded to a Fairfield Drive residence on a report of an attempted burglary to a motor vehicle. The resident reported that he witnessed on his cameras an unknown male walked down his driveway and attempted to enter his 2022 BMW 330 series. The vehicle was locked, so the actor was unsuccessful at gaining entry to the vehicle. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
