1. On October 23rd, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division
arrested 31-year-old Edgardo Ayala of North Bergen, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Ayala was then
transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest
processing, Mr. Ayala was issued his traffic summons and released from police custody.
2. On October 23rd, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to 7000 Park
Avenue (Benny’s Liquors) for a report of an unwanted female. During the course of their on-scene investigation, officers
arrested 42-year-old Luismy C. Pena-Lugo of North Bergen, NJ, after uncovering that she had five active warrants, four
issued by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and one issued from the West New York Municipal Court. Ms. Pena-Lugo
was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. At the completion of her arrest
processing, Ms. Pena-Lugo was lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.
3. On October 25th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to 7000 Park
Avenue (Benny’s Liquors) for a report of a disorderly male. Once on-scene, officers arrested 41-year-old Anthony
Sanchez of Guttenberg, NJ, after he threatened to assault one of the responding officers. After his arrest, it was also
uncovered that Mr. Sanchez had two active warrants issued by the North Bergen Municipal Court. Mr. Sanchez was then
transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing, where he was charged with terroristic
threats [2C:12-3A]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Sanchez was issued his complaint warrant and
lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.
4. On October 26th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division
arrested 55-year-old Erwin H. Monreal of Union City, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. After his arrest, officers
also uncovered that Mr. Monreal was in possession of a small baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to
be cocaine and two prescription pills without a prescription. Mr. Monreal was then transported to the Guttenberg Police
Department for his arrest processing. At police headquarters, Mr. Monreal was charged with the possession of a
controlled dangerous substance [2C:35-10A(1)], possession of prescription legend drugs [2C:35-10.5E(1)], failure to
make lawful disposition [2C:35-10C], and two counts of the possession of drug paraphernalia [2C:36-2]. Upon the
completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Monreal was issued his complaint summons, given his traffic summons, and
released from police custody.
The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven
guilty in a court of law.
