On October 19, 2023, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Police Officer Arturo
Gonzalez was driving at the intersection of Bloomfield and Third Streets when he
saw a man set off a loud firework. The man, later identified as 24-year-old Nyri
Poole of Philadelphia, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct, and released
at the scene.
On October 19, 2023, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller and Police
Officers Arturo Gonzalez, Christopher Hatfield, and Nathaniel Arrocho responded
to Starbucks, 314 Washington St., for reports of a man hitting the window. When
they arrived, they learned the actor, later identified as 42-year-old Roland Gaskin
of Jersey City, had followed a woman inside Starbucks in a way that frightened
her, and led store employees to call police. Gaskin was found to have two open
warrants; one out of Bayonne for trespassing, and one out of Jersey City for
criminal mischief. He was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest of
Gaskin located a glass cylinder with steel wool inside, commonly referred to as a
crack pipe. Gaskin was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was
charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and was later transported to the
Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On October 19, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., Police Officer Christopher Barral
observed a man identified as 33-year-old Gregory Freitas of Hoboken riding a bike
on the 200 block of Harrison Street. Freitas was known to have an open warrant
out of Hoboken for package theft on the 200 block of Bloomfield Street on
October 5, 2023. Freitas was then spotted by Sgt. Adam Colon and Police Officer
Anthony Ingraffia on the 400 block of Marshall Drive, and he ignored their
commands to stop. The officers engaged in a short foot pursuit of Frietas, who they
eventually caught up to and placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest of
Freitas located a small glass cylindrical pipe, copper mesh wiring, and a metal rod
all of which are commonly used to ingest CDS crack-cocaine. Freitas was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on the
warrant and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. He
was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On October 20, 2023, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Sgt. Saverio Binetti and Police
Officers Jason Montalvo and Rose Kanan responded to the area of Observer
Highway and Washington Street on reports of a road rage incident. Upon arrival,
they observed two vehicles pulled over to the side of the road after having been in
an accident. They spoke with one of the drivers, later identified as 24-year-old
Harold Delgado of Jersey City, who appeared lethargic, and the officers smelled
alcohol emanating from his breath. It was learned he damaged the driver’s side
mirror on the other car and drove away. Police Officer Anthony Rutkowski arrived
and conducted a field sobriety test, after which Delgado was arrested. He was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters to be processed. He was charged with
driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident.
As per John’s Law, he was released into the custody of a responsible adult.
On October 20, 2023, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Police Officers Joseph Spano
and Daniel Grossi responded to T-Mobile, 133 Washington St., on reports of a
shoplifting. Witnesses say the actor took a charging block valued at $19.99 and left
without paying. Sgt. Dennis Figueroa and Police Officer Christopher Barral
spotted a man fitting the description given by store employees near the intersection
of Third Street and Park Avenue. The on-scene investigation identified the man as
32-year-old Rodney Hamilton of Newark, and he was placed under arrest for
shoplifting. A search incident to arrest revealed Hamilton to have the stolen
charging block. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed,
given a summons, and released from custody.
On October 21, 2023, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Police Officers Daniel Grossi
and Shelby Seickendick responded to the area near Cheap Maggie's, 216
Washington St., on reports on a shoplifting that just happened inside the store with
a manager following the actor down Washington Street. When they arrived, they
were approached by the caller outside of Sparrow Wine & Liquors, 126
Washington St., who told them the woman who took shoes was inside the liquor
store. Officers recognized the woman as 37-year-old Alysha Noel of Hoboken and
observed her wearing the stolen shoes valued at $24.99, which were given back to
the store. She was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters where she was charged with shoplifting, processed, and then
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On October 22, 2023, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Sergeant Luke Zeszotarski was
patrolling the 100 block of Jackson Street, when he found a vehicle that appeared
to have been involved in a hit and run. At about the same time, a witness called
Hoboken Police Headquarters to report a hit and run, with a driver striking a
parked vehicle and then fleeing north on Jackson Street. At approximately 4:30
a.m., Police Officer Aaron Font located a vehicle matching a description given by
the caller on the 400 block of Marshall Drive. The front driver side air bag was
deployed, and damage to the car matched the damage done to the parked vehicle.
The abandoned car was traced to an address nearby. Officers Font and James
Barbro went to that home and located a man later identified as 37-year-old
Armando Lopez of Hoboken who had injuries consistent with having been hit by a
deployed airbag. The officers also observed a strong scent of an alcoholic beverage
on his breath. Sgt. Zeszotarski performed a standard field sobriety test, after which
Lopez was placed under arrest. Lopez was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to provide breath
samples, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a
suspended license, and driving without a license. As per John’s Law, he was
released into the custody of a responsible adult.
On October 22, 2023, a approximately 10:15 p.m., Police Officers Daniel Grossi
and Anthony Olivera responded to the 400 block of Hudson Street where Sgt.
Francis McCourt had observed one vehicle hit a parked car. Sgt. McCourt pulled
the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Christopher Moogan of Boonton, over.
Officers observed him to have slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of an
alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. Officer Grossi conducted a field
sobriety test, after which, Moogan was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A
search of his car found a half empty bottle of beer. He was transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters and issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless
driving, and open container. As per John’s Law, Moogan was released into the
custody of a responsible adult.
On October 23, 2023, at approximately 4 a.m., Police Officer Joshua Campoverde
responded to CVS, 59 Washington St., on reports of a dispute between two people.
When he arrived, he observed a store security guard holding down a man
experiencing homelessness. Sergeants Luke Zeszotarski and James Barbro, and
Police Officers Daniel Grossi, Aaron Font, and Michael Straten also arrived on the
scene. It was learned that when the actor, identified as 35-year-old Jonathan
Berkery of Hoboken walked in, the security guard recognized him from past
shoplifting incidents and asked him to leave. They engaged in a verbal argument,
which escalated into shoving. At one point during the exchange, Berkery smacked
the guard's cellphone out of his hand, causing it to fall and break. Berkery was
arrested for criminal mischief. A search incident to arrest of Berkery located a
combination lock still in the package, and it was determined to have been taken
from the CVS. Berkery was further charged with robbery. He was transported to
the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On October 23, 2023, at approximately 1 p.m. Sgt. Steven Kranz and Police
Officer Dylan Archilla responded to the 700 block of Jackson Street on reports of a
theft, where the actor was sitting outside of the building. The on-scene
investigation determined that the actor, later identified as 29-year-old Oshane
McLeoan of Cambria Heights, NY, had taken items from that building and a
neighboring building. Police Officer Christopher Hatfield arrived on scene to
assist. McLeoan was arrested for burglary and theft and transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters. He was issued a summons and released.
On October 25, 2023, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Sgt. Adam Colon and Police
Officer Anthony Ingraffia were patrolling the 50 block of Madison Street when
they saw 32-year-old Armando Torres of Jersey City, who they knew to be a
suspect in current burglary investigations. They saw him again approximately 15
minutes later on the 100 block of Madison Street. He was using a bicycle to hold
items. It was later discovered that the bike and items, including a box of bags and a
pair of children’s hearing protectors had been stolen from inside a nearby building.
Lt. Donald Rosso and Police Officers Christopher Barral and Rose Kanan
responded to assist. A search incident to arrest of Torres yielded two small plastic
bags containing substances believed to be suspect CDS crack-cocaine, a small
glass cylindrical pipe commonly used to ingest CDS crack-cocaine, and a Dunkin’
Donuts gift card which was bent with damaged edges which is consistent with that
of a burglar's tool. Torres was transported to Police Headquarters and charged with
burglary, theft of movable property, package theft, possession of suspected crackcocaine CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of burglar’s tools.
He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On October 25, 2023, at approximately 4:55 p.m., Police Officers Harold Milne,
Harry Montalvo, Ramon Estrella, Domenick Allegretta, and Joseph DiMartino
responded to Second and Monroe Streets for reports of man riding a bicycle that
had been stolen from the 500 block of Madison Street on October 21, 2023.
Officers tracked down the actor, later identified as 57-year-old Ramon Quinones of
Hoboken, nearby and arrested him for receiving stolen property. He was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, given a copy of his summons, and
released from custody
