Hoboken Police Arrest Blotter Nov 09 – Nov 15

On November 9, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Police Officers Aaron Font and Keven De La Cruz responded to the area of Newark and River Streets for reports of two men sleeping on the stairs inside a private building. The officers located the men, one of whom was identified as 32-year-old Jacob Martinez of Hoboken. It was discovered he had a warrant for his arrest in Hoboken for disorderly conduct, theft of movable property, and unlicensed entry into a structure. He was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on the warrant. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

On November 10, 2023, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Police Officers Bianca Arroyo and Keven De La Cruz responded to the 400 block of Garden Street on reports of someone driving the wrong way down the one-way street, hitting two parked cars. Upon arrival the officers saw a red Jeep Compass in the middle of the street, and a man, later identified as 35-year-old Matthew Meade of Clifton, standing next to it. While speaking to Meade, officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and observed him having glassy eyes, a blank stare, and responding slowly. Sgt. Edward Sellick arrived to assist. Officer Arroyo conducted a field sobriety test, after which Meade was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. As per John’s Law he was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On November 11, 2023, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Lt. David Olivera, Sgt. Adam Colon, and Police Officers Anthony Ingraffia, Daniel Grossi, and Jessica Pizanie responded to the area of Fifth and Adams Streets on reports of a package theft that had just occurred. A witness had seen the actor take objects from two separate residential buildings and then followed him to Seventh and Jefferson Streets where officers located 32-year-old Armondo Torres of Jersey City. He was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical tube with burnt ends, commonly used to ingest CDS crack-cocaine. Torres was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was charged with package theft and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

On November 12, 2023, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Sgt. Robert Roman and Police Officers Daniela Simone and Keven De La Cruz responded to the area of Sixth and River Streets, on reports of a possible intoxicated driver who had been stopped by Stevens Institute of Technology Police. The driver was identified as 19-year-old Christopher Blanco of Miami and was observed to have the odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. Officer Simone conducted a field sobriety test, after which Blanco was placed under arrest. An on-scene investigation found that Blanco had hit two cars on Washington Street and didn’t stop. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and given summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident. As per John’s Law he was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On November 12, 2023, at approximately 12:20 pm., Police Officers Joshua Campoverde and Geovani Cruzado responded to CVS, 210 14th St., on reports of two shoplifters inside. Upon their arrival, Sgt. Roary Miller was already on scene, speaking with two men. One was later identified as 42-year-old Jackie Thomas of Hoboken who was seen on surveillance cameras putting items worth approximately $93.23 into a reusable grocery bag. He was arrested, charged with shoplifting, and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

On November 13, 2023, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Police Officer Roberto Cuevas was responding to a car accident, when he observed an individual with a bright orange backpack. The person matched the description of a man, identified as AGE 33-year-old Gregory Freitas of Hoboken who was wanted for a burglary the day prior. On that date, Police Officers Joshua Campoverde and Geovanni Cruzado responded to the 400 block of Clinton Street on reports of a burglary to a car, where an orange backpack with a $200 gift card to a local restaurant, and three pairs of Apple Air Pods were stolen. Further investigation found that Freitas tried to use the stolen gift card but was denied by restaurant staff. On November 13, Freitas was placed under arrest for receiving stolen property. Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez and Police Officer Jesse Costellano were also on the arrest scene. During a search incident to arrest, officers located a clear glass cylinder which contained a white powdery substance suspected to be CDS crack cocaine. Freitas was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and refused fingerprinting. He was charged with credit card theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, and refusal of fingerprinting. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility
