1. On November 20th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol
Division arrested 30-year-old Elizabeth Almonte-Ruiz of Hackensack, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Ms.
Almonte-Ruiz was transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. Upon the completion of
her arrest processing, she was issued her summons for traffic violations and released from police custody.
2. On November 21st, 2023, while on proactive patrol, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division
arrested 24-year-old Carlos R. Chamale-Sunuc of North Bergen, NJ, for criminal mischief [2C:17-3A] and disorderly
conduct [2C:33-2A(2)] after observing him urinate on a parked vehicle. Mr. Chamale-Sunuc was then transported to the
Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. ChamaleSunuc was issued his complaint summons, in addition to a summons for urinating in public [3-7], and then released from
police custody.
3. On November 22nd, 2023, the Guttenberg Police Department was contacted by the West New York Police
Department, informing our agency that they had one male in custody with an active warrant issued by the Guttenberg
Municipal Court. Shortly thereafter, members of the West New York Police Department transported 32-year-old Leonel
Carranza of North Bergen, NJ, to our police headquarters for processing. During his arrest processing, Mr. Carranza was
able to post the full bail amount of $550.00. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Carranza was released on
his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance at the Guttenberg Municipal Court.
4. On November 22nd, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol
Division arrested 26-year-old Guillermo N. Gunera-Guevara of Union City, NJ, after discovering that he had an active
warrant issued by the North Bergen Municipal Court. Mr. Gunera-Guevara was then transported to our police
headquarters for his arrest processing. During his arrest processing, Mr. Gunera-Guevara was able to post the full bail
amount of $1,000.00. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Gunera-Guevara was released on his own
recognizance, pending his next court appearance at the North Bergen Municipal Court.
5. On November 23rd, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division began responding to
multiple reports of an erratic driver who struck multiple parked vehicles in the area of 70th Street and Hudson Avenue.
Officers also responded to the 100 block of 71st Street, where the suspect vehicle was allegedly located. During their onscene investigation, officers arrested 23-year-old Estevan Lopez of Guttenberg, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-
50], hindering his own apprehension [2C:29-3B(1)], possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose [2C:39-4D], criminal
attempt – aggravated assault by auto [2C:5-1A(1) – 2C:12-1C(2)], and aggravated assault [2C:12-1B(1)]. Mr. Lopez was
then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest
processing, Mr. Lopez was issued his complaint warrant, various summons for traffic violations, and then lodged in the
Hudson County Correctional Center.
6. On November 24th, 2023, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol
Division arrested 45-year-old Hugo R. Oreno of Guttenberg, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Oreno was
then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest
processing, Mr. Oreno was issued his traffic summons and released from police custody.
7. On November 25th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Madison
Street for a report of a suspicious male entering a construction site. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested
28-year-old Jonatan Guerra-Armira of Guttenberg, NJ, for criminal trespass [2C:18-3A]. Mr. Guerra-Armira was then
transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest
processing, Mr. Guerra-Armira was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.
8. On November 26th, 2023, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a local
establishment on Bergenline Avenue after receiving reports of a burglary. An immediate criminal investigation was
launched by members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau. As the result of their
investigation, on November 27th, 2023, officers located and arrested 40-year-old Yoseth A. Diaz of North Bergen, NJ, for
burglary [2C:18-2A(1)], criminal trespass [2C:18-3A], and theft [2C:20-3A]. Mr. Diaz was then transported to the
Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Diaz was
issued his complaint warrant and then lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.
The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven
guilty in a court of law.
