On Friday, August 18, 2023, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs Task Force arrested a 38-year-old man following a weeks-long narcotics investigation.
Robert Johnson, of Jersey City, is charged with two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, crimes of the third degree; two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, crimes of the second degree; two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), crimes of the third degree; and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2), crimes of the third degree. He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
In the early morning hours of Friday, August 18, 2023, members of the Gangs Task Force, with assistance from Hudson County Regional SWAT, executed a court-authorized search warrant at Johnson’s residence on Van Wagenen Avenue. The search resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Two children were present in the home at the time the court-authorized search was conducted. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
