On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Emil Figueroa-Blanco, 22, for committing a sex crime on a woman in North Bergen. The crime occurred on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at a motel on Tonnele Avenue. The 22-year-old victim met the defendant through acquaintances in the hours leading up to the assault.
Figueroa-Blanco, of West New York, is charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(7), a crime of the first degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he was being detained on an unrelated matter, and remains in custody pending a detention motion.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest, with assistance from the North Bergen Police Department.
