Man Arrested In Sexual Assault And Robbery In Jersey City

On Friday, May 12, 2023, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Elijah Lloyd, age 18, of Jersey City, on charges relating to the sexual assault of a 63-year-old woman inside a Jersey City business.

Lloyd has been charged with Kidnapping in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1), a first-degree crime; Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(3), a first-degree crime; Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1), a first-degree crime; Terroristic Threats in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3a, a third-degree crime; and Theft in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3, a third-degree crime.

On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at approximately 8:24 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call reporting a sexual assault. The 63-year-old victim reported an unknown male entered a business on West Side Avenue – south of Communipaw Avenue – where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest and multiple units of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance in the investigation. Prosecutor Suarez commends Jersey City Police Officers Isaac Holmes and Michael DeBari – both of the Citywide Burglary Unit – for swiftly identifying the defendant during the investigation.
