Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-InCharge Isa Abbassi announce that on October 22, 2023, at approximately 3:01 a.m., the Paterson
Police Department was dispatched to the area of Market Street and East 36th Street in Paterson
on a reported shooting. Officers located the first victim, a 32-year-old male from Paterson, with
multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center
where he is currently in stable condition. A second unidentified victim with a gunshot wound to
his chest arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in a private vehicle. The second
victim was subsequently pronounced deceased.
This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes
available.
