Arrest Made in Connection to the October 15, 2023 Fatal Hit and Run in Woodland Park, NJ

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Woodland Park Chief of Police John Uzzalino announce that based upon an investigation by the Woodland Park Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Abdullah Parker, 57-years-old from Woodland Park, was charged in connection to the October 15, 2023, fatal hit and run that occurred in the area of McBride Avenue and Hughes Place in Woodland Park, New Jersey. Abdullah Parker was charged with Death by Auto within 1000 Feet of a School, first-degree; Death by Auto, second-degree; Endangering an Injured Victim, third-degree; and Leaving the Scene of an Accident, second-degree.

On October 15, 2023, at approximately 7:35 p.m., the Woodland Park Police Department was notified of a hit and run motor vehicle incident in the area of McBride Avenue and Hughes Place in Woodland Park. A black Honda Odyssey struck a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk and then drove off. The victim, Lillian Zamlout, a 31-year-old female from Woodland Park was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

Abdullah Parker is currently in custody awaiting his first appearance at Central Judicial Processing. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion for pre-trial detention which will be heard by a Superior Court Judge at a date and time to be determined by the Court.

The crime of Death by Auto in the first-degree carries a sentencing range of 10 years and 20 years imprisonment. Second-degree Death by Auto carries a sentencing range between 5 years and 10 years imprisonment. Leaving the Scene of an Accident also has a sentencing range of 5 to 10 years imprisonment. Endangering an Injured Victim has a sentencing range between 3 years and 5 years imprisonment.

Criminal complaints are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
