Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that on October 1, 2023, at approximately 12:28 p.m., Paterson
Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Highland Street and Park Place in Paterson on a
report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located two victims. The first victim, a 19-year-old male from Paterson, sustained an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to St.
Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The second victim, a
42-year-old female from Paterson, sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was also
admitted at the hospital for treatment.
This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes
available.
