Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In- Charge
Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 6:49 p.m. on September 4, 2023, members of the
Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Lawrence Street and Mercer Street in
Paterson, New Jersey on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival members of the Paterson Police
Department located a 23-year-old male Paterson resident who sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound
and was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Police
were able to locate a potential crime scene in the area.
A brief time earlier members of the Paterson Police Department were notified of shots fired in the
area of Godwin Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard in Paterson, New Jersey. Polce responded to
the area and located a potential crime scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes
available.
