Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-InCharge Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 12:09 a.m. on July 8, 2023, Paterson Police
responded to the area of Seely Street and Parkway on reports of shots fired. Upon arrival,
officers were unable to locate any victims. Shortly thereafter, members of the Paterson Police
Department were notified that an 18-year-old Paterson resident had arrived at St. Joseph’s
University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot
wound. Based on the initial investigation, the shooting occurred in the area of Market Street and
East 18th Street in Paterson.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it
becomes available.
