Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 10:01 p.m. on June 9, 2023, members of the
Paterson Police Department responded to the area of North 9th Street and Belmont Avenue in
Paterson, New Jersey on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival police located a potential crime
scene consisting of ballistic evidence but no victim was located. A short while later, police
responded to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey on a report of a 29-
year-old male Paterson, New Jersey resident seeking treatment for a non- fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it
becomes available.
