Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that at approximately 10:06 p.m. on May 21, 2023, Paterson Police
responded to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey on report that a 19
year-old Paterson, New Jersey male had responded to the hospital seeking treatment for a nonfatal gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the area
of 24th Street and Park Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it
becomes available.
