Antwan Campbell
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that Antwan Campbell, age 40, of
Paterson, New Jersey, was found guilty after a jury trial before the Honorable Sohail
Mohammed, P.J.Cr., of one count of first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, in violation of
N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2(a)(1), two counts of second degree Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A.
2C:14-2(b), and two counts of second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, in violation of
N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(a)(1).
On February 11, 2019, the Paterson Police Department contacted the Passaic County
Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit to report that a seven-year-old child and eleven-year-old child made sexual abuse allegations against Mr. Campbell. Prosecutor’s Office Detectives
interviewed multiple witnesses, including the child victims. The children reported being
sexually abused by Mr. Campbell on different occasions between November 2018 and February
2019 at their home in Paterson, New Jersey.
On March 23, 2023, a Passaic County petit jury convicted Mr. Campbell on all counts submitted
for their consideration. Judge Mohammed scheduled Mr. Campbell’s sentencing hearing for July
13, 2023, at 9:00 AM, and remanded Mr. Campbell to the custody of the Passaic County Jail
pending sentence.
The sentencing exposure on first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault where the victim is under the
age of thirteen, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2(a)(1), is twenty five years to life in New Jersey
State Prison, subject to a twenty-five-year parole disqualifier pursuant to the Jessica Lunsford
Act; on second degree Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2(b), it is five to ten years
in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the term to be served before parole eligibility pursuant to
the No Early Release Act; and on second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, in violation
of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(a)(1), it is five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison.
Mr. Campbell is subject to the Special Sentence of Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law
registration requirements.
