Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Acting Paterson Police Chief Bert Ribeiro
announce that at approximately 12:29 a.m. on February 23rd, 2023, members of the Paterson
Police Department responded to the area of 9th Avenue and East 24th Street on a report of a
shooting. Upon arrival, police located a potential crime scene and an 18-year-old male Saddle
Brook, New Jersey resident who sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound. The victim was
immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey for
treatment.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it
becomes available.
