Civilian Bystander and Secaucus Police Officers Resuscitate Man

On December 16, 2023 at 10:03 A.M., the Secaucus Police Department responded to LA Fitness, 485 Harmon Meadow Boulevard, on a report of an unresponsive male, who was not breathing. Juan Germosen, a witness to the event, immediately began Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Upon their arrival, Police Officer Christopher Boyko took over CPR and was later assisted by Police Officer Jonathan Padron. While performing CPR, Police Officer Justin Pardo utilized his Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and administered two “shocks” to the victim and a pulse was found shortly thereafter. Hudson Regional Hospital EMT’s and Jersey City Medical Center. Paramedics, who both arrived on the scene, took over CPR and later administered two additional “shocks” to the victim.

The victim was transported to Hudson Regional Hospital, stabilized and later transferred to Hackensack University Medical Center for immediate cardiac care. At the time of this press release, the victim remains in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

“I am extremely proud of these officers and I commend their collaboration in performing these lifesaving measures and bringing this victim back to life,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “I also want to praise Hudson Regional Hospital EMS and Jersey City Medical Center’s Paramedics for their ongoing commitment to the safety of the residents of the Town of Secaucus.”
