Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of LUIS A. SUAREZ (DOB: 09/16/1982; single; chef) of Montclair, NJ, on charges of murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Ramsey Police Department under the direction of Chief Brian Lyman.
At approximately 7:25 p.m., on Sunday, December 31, 2023, the Ramsey Police Department responded to 101 Williams Street in Ramsey, NJ, on the report of a homicide. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased 41-year-old female with an apparent gunshot wound to her head. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ramsey Police Department identified LUIS A. SUAREZ as the suspect, and shortly thereafter, he was arrested in Montclair, NJ.
As a result of the investigation, on Sunday, December 31, 2023, LUIS A. SUAREZ was arrested in Montclair, NJ and charged with first-degree murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3(a)1; and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1). SUAREZ was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Ramsey Police Department, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montclair Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
