Guttenberg Police Blotter - January 8th, 2024 to January 14th, 2024

1. On January 9th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 56-year-old Jackeline Diaz of West New York, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Ms. Diaz was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. Upon the completion of her arrest processing, Ms. Diaz was issued multiple summons for traffic violations and then released to the custody of a responsible adult.

2. On January 10th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 38-year-old Axel F. Martinez-Osuna of West New York, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Mr. Martinez-Osuna was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing, where he was able to post bail. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Martinez-Osuna was issued multiple summons for traffic violations and then released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.

3. On January 10th, 2024, the Guttenberg Police Department was contacted by the Fairview Police Department, informing us that they had an adult male in their custody with an active warrant issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Members of the Fairview Police Department transported 21-year-old Franklin O. Flores of North Bergen, NJ, to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing, during which he was able to post bail. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Flores was released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.

4. On January 11th, 2024, while on patrol, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division observed a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of Freedom Bank (6812 Park Avenue). During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 51-year-old Oscar J. Ornelasberistain of West New York, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Ornelasberistain was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Ornelasberistain was issued multiple summons for traffic violations and then released into the custody of a responsible adult.

5. On January 13th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 24-year-old Hosh S. Lopez-Orellana of Weehawken, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. LopezOrellana was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Lopez-Orellana was issued multiple summons for traffic violations and then released to the custody of a responsible adult.

6. On January 13th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 28-year-old Christopher A. Reyes-Alvarado of Guttenberg, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Mr. Reyes-Alvarado was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Reyes-Alvarado was released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.

7. On January 14th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 48-year-old Holger A. Leon-Castro of Union City, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. During their on-scene investigation, it was also discovered that Mr. Leon-Castro was in possession of numerous prescription pills not prescribed to him. Mr. Leon-Castro was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing, where he was also charged with the possession of five (5) or more dosage units of prescription legend drugs [2C:35- 10.5e(2)] and the illegal use and possession of prescription legend drugs [2C:35-10.5B]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Leon-Castro was issued multiple summons for traffic violations and his complaint summons and then released to the custody of a responsible adult.

8. On January 14th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 34-year-old Jonathan M. Merino of West New York, NJ, after Mr. Merino interfered with a motor vehicle stop unrelated to him. At Guttenberg Police Headquarters, Mr. Merino was subsequently charged with obstructing the administration of law [2C:29-1A] and resisting arrest [2C:29-2A(1)]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Merino was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.


The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
