Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Since we appear to be experiencing snow this season, I would like to offer a friendly reminder to residents to please remember to remove the snow from your sidewalk for everyone’s safety.

In sports news Tenafly Hockey is currently 11-0 and off to their best start since 2011. Boys and Girls Swimming are both currently 5-0 this season. Girls Basketball is ranked 17th in the county by the Bergen Record, and Wrestling coach Chris Marren captured his 200th career win on Saturday.

This Saturday at the Nature Center families with children ages 3 to 7 can enjoy a nature story and visit from an Animal Ambassador. On Sunday, all ages are welcome as a seasonal favorite event, Maple Sugaring taps in. Identify a maple tree and discover the history of syrup making while you create fresh maple syrup, a sweet treat for all. Sign up at https://tenaflync.org/home

We are excited to announce a new business in Tenafly, the Bergen County Pickleball Club at 101 North Summit Street opening this Saturday, January 20th. This indoor facility is for players of any age and skill level offering lessons, clinics, leagues, open recreation play, and court rentals. For details visit: www.bergencountypickleballclub.com

The Tenafly Library Friends present Tree-oh in concert this Sunday, January 21st at 2:00 pm in the Library Art Gallery. Everyone is welcome and no registration is necessary.

The Elks are hosting a karaoke night on Saturday, January 27th from 7 pm to 11 pm. $10 donation includes food, games and fun.

On Sunday, January 28, the Knights of Columbus are hosting their annual basketball free throw contest for boys and girls ages 9-14 in the gym at Mt. Carmel. Awards will be presented to the highest scorers in each category who will then advance to finals. Doors open at 1:30 pm for registration. The competition is open to everyone in Tenafly.
