Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Tenafly Boys Basketball pulled one of the largest upsets in Jamboree history - defeating the #4 ranked Ridgewood as a #20 seed in the round of 16 hosted at Tenafly. Our team will play Northern Highlands in the Elite 8 at 2:30 pm at Hackensack High School this Saturday.

Both Boys and Girls Swimming finished their regular season undefeated and the Boys team recently received the top seed in the State Tournament. Congratulations to all the Tenafly athletes and coaches.

At the Nature Center this Saturday adults and children can meet a live animal and explore their creative and crafty side at Crafty Critters at 2 pm. On Sunday, the Nature Center is running two of its popular maple sugaring sessions. All ages are welcome. Discover the history of syrup making and boil down sap to make fresh, warm maple syrup, a sweet treat for all to taste. Register at tenaflynaturecenter.org

Bergen Community College is hosting a celebration of Black History Month - African Americans and the Arts on Tuesday, February 6 at 5:30 pm at the Moses Center - Parking Lot B, 400 Paramus Road, in Paramus. Join in as the impact African Americans have had on visual arts, music, and cultural movements is celebrated.

Stand Up for the Arts at the JCC next Saturday, February 10th at 7 pm. This fun evening of laughter isn’t just entertainment; it’s a healing force. For tickets visit: Event and Ticket Information (onecause.com)

Temple Sinai is hosting a special evening featuring Lizzy Savetsky, a popular digital influencer and passionate activist for Israel and the Jewish community. Lizzy will lead a discussion on Judaism, the current rise in antisemitism and how everyone can harness their passion to combat it. Thursday, February 29 at 8:15 pm. The Senior Center along with the Bergen County Department of Health are sponsoring a free six week program, titled “Take Control of Your Health”. This workshop is for adults with ongoing health conditions or caregivers of a person with chronic disease. You will get the support you need, find practical ways to deal with pain and fatigue, discover better nutrition and exercise choices, understand new treatment choices and learn better ways to talk with your doctor and family about your health.
