The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal collision in which one woman died on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
At approximately 12:20 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle collision on Route 185 in the area of the Linden Avenue East intersection. Upon arrival, responding officers located a 2019 Nissan passenger vehicle that had collided with the rear of a parked and unoccupied tractor trailer.
The female driver and two female passengers were transported to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services. A female passenger — identified as Stephanie Weymouth, age 31, of Bayonne — was pronounced dead shortly after 1:00 a.m. The 28-year-old driver of Staten Island and a 27-year-old passenger of Old Bridge were treated at JCMC with non-life-threatening injuries and released.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
