Guttenberg Police Blotter - January 29th, 2024 to February 4th, 2024

1. On January 29th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 34-year-old Edwin Vasquez of West New York, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant issued by the Hudson County Sheriffs Office. Mr. Vasquez was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Vasquez was transferred to the custody of officers from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.

2. On January 30th, 2024, at approximately 12:35 AM, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to 7000 Park Avenue (Benny’s Liquors) for a report of a female party that shoplifted and was previously trespassed from the establishment. Once on the scene, officers located 39-year-old Christine E. O’Brien of North Bergen, NJ, who was reported to have trespassed and shoplifted from the establishment. During their on-scene investigation, officers discovered that Ms. O’Brien had an active warrant out of the State of New York for a parole violation. Officers were also able to recover some of the stolen items, found with Ms. O’Brien, and returned them to the establishment. Ms. O’Brien was then placed under arrest and transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. Initially, Ms. O’Brien was charged with defiant trespass [2C:18-3B], shoplifting [2C:20-11B], and being a fugitive from justice [2A:160-10]. However, during her arrest processing, Ms. O’Brien became combative and struck an officer in the face with a closed fist. Following the assault, Ms. O’Brien was also charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer [2C:12-1B(5)(A)]. Upon the completion of her arrest processing, Ms. O’Brien was issued three (3) complaint warrants and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

3. On January 31st, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 29-year-old Mario Chamale-Sequen of Los Angeles, CA, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. ChamaleSequen was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Chamale-Sequen was issued numerous summons for traffic violations and then released to staff of the Palisades Medical Center.

4. On January 31st, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 31-year-old Lydiacruz D. Flores of Jersey City, NJ, after discovering that she had two active warrants for her arrest, issued by the East Brunswick and Hillside Municipal Courts. Ms. Flores was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. Upon the completion of her arrest processing, Ms. Flores was transferred into the custody of officers from the East Brunswick Police Department.

5. On February 2nd, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau arrested 49-year-old Ernesto Lara-Rojo of West New York, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant issued by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and after discovering that Mr. Lara-Rojo was in possession of three clear baggies, each containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. Mr. Lara-Rojo was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. At police headquarters, Mr. Lara-Rojo was charged with the possession of a controlled dangerous substance [2C:35-10A(1)] and failure to make lawful disposition [2C:35-10C]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Lara-Rojo was issued his complaint warrant and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

6. On February 3rd, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division located a vehicle idling near the intersection of Park Avenue and 71st Street, while the driver was asleep inside of the vehicle. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 37-year-old Santiago Gonzalez-Teletor of Annapolis, MD, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Gonzalez-Teletor was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Gonzalez-Teletor was issued numerous summons for traffic violations and then released to the custody of a responsible adult.

7. On February 4th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 50-year-old Marco A. Sanchez-Cruz of North Bergen, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. During their onscene investigation, officers also discovered that Mr. Sanchez-Cruz was in possession of a clear baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. Mr. Sanchez-Cruz was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department, where he was also charged with the possession of a controlled dangerous substance [2C:35-10A(1)] and failure to make lawful disposition [2C:35-10C]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Sanchez-Cruz was issued summons for traffic violations, his complaint warrant, and then lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.


The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
