On February 2, 2024, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Detectives John Quinones, Christine Collins, and Samuel Flores were driving on the 500 block of Marshall Drive when they saw a man, they knew to be 24-year-old Sebastian Iniguez of Hoboken. Iniquez had a warrant issued against him for reports of a theft on January 28, 2024. In that report, taken by Police Officer David Chicara, a bag worth approximately $338 was stolen from a building on the 700 block of Monroe Street. A follow up investigation by Detective Collins identified Iniguez as the actor, and theft charges were put on a warrant against him. During his arrest on Feb. 2, 2024, a search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical pipe, commonly used to inhale CDS, along with wire copper mesh. Police Officers Joshua Campoverde and Frank Losurdo arrived on scene and transported Iniguez to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on the initial charge of theft and a new charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Iniguez also received an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia for concealing a brown powdery substance believed to be CDS in the tongue of his boot. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility by Police Officers Enrico Gnassi and Nicholas Losurdo.
On February 2, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Joshua Campoverde responded to the Hoboken Shelter, 300 Bloomfield St., on reports that a man wanted for aggravated assault and making terroristic threats was there. Officer Pizanie identified the man as 34-year-old Erick Figueroa-Gonzalez of Hoboken. On January 27, 2024, FigueroaGonzalez had been observed by Officers Pizanie, Andrew Hochstadter, Mark Mooreman, and Alexander Miller walking on Washington Street with no shirt on, yelling, and banging on cars. Figueroa-Gonzalez walked away from the officers after being given multiple verbal commands to stop. The officers believed him to be highly intoxicated and saw him trip over a motorcycle, talk to himself, and yell at traffic in the street. At one point he slammed his hands on the hood of a car in the area. No damage was caused. Officers arrested him and he continued to yell, becoming more irate and belligerent. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps was called, and Figueroa-Gonzalez was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he spit at officers and onto the face of an EMT. On Feb. 2, at approximately 2:20 p.m., he was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was processed on charges of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats and released on a summons.
On Feb. 2, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Police Officers Paul Quin and Chelsea Tamborra responded to the area of Willow Terrace and Willow Avenue on reports of a man walking in and out of traffic and then lying on the ground. When they arrived, they saw a man lying under a Citi Bike, behind a vehicle trying to move. They observed the man to be disoriented and having issues standing. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corp was called. The man identified himself as 24-year-old Nelson Vasquez of Hoboken, and it was learned he was wanted on a warrant for traffic offenses out of Clinton. He was released with a new court date from Clinton Police.
On February 2, 2024, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Detective Connor Milne and Fabian Quinones responded to Hoboken High School, 801 Clinton St., on reports of a large crowd gathered outside due to an indoor gym hosting a sporting event being at capacity. They began to disperse groups of people, but many of them made their way back to the front entrance of the school, despite being told they couldn’t go inside. Detectives recognized 19-year-old Jamal Pittman of Jersey City in the crowd and believed him to have an active warrant for his arrest from Jersey City Police. Pittman ran off and the detectives gave chase. Sgt. Dennis Figuera and Police Officer Harold Milne were also involved in the foot pursuit. Officer Milne saw Pittman bend down near two parked vehicles on the 900 block of Willow Avenue, before he surrendered himself. Near the two parked cars, officers located a clear plastic bag with 15 plastic capsules containing a white rocklike substance suspected to be CDS crack-cocaine. Pittman was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with possession with intent to distribute CDS crack-cocaine, possession with intent to distribute CDS crack-cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession with intent to distribute CDS crack-cocaine within 500 feet of a public park, and resisting arrest by flight. He was transferred to Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On February 3, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., Sgt. Francis McCourt and Police Officers Damien Bates, Nasir Wiley, Alexander Miller, and Shyenna Vega responded to the area of Sixth and Washington Streets on reports of a car crash with injuries. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded. Officers spoke with both drivers and found one of them, identified as 31-year-old Glen Perini of Jersey City, to have the smell of alcoholic beverages emanating from his breath and body. He was also observed to be overly excited and enthusiastic while explaining what happened. Police Officers Daniel Barron and Daniel Grossi arrived on the scene, and Officer Grossi conducted a standard field sobriety test, after which Perini was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and further charged with reckless driving and aggravated assault. As per John’s law, Perini was released into the custody of a responsible party.
On February 3, 2024, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Police Officers Harold Milne and Shelby Seickendick responded to the 9th Street Light Rail Station on reports of a man wielding a knife on the platform. Police Officers Nicholas Losurdo and Chelsea Tambora arrived on the scene, along with New Jersey Transit Police Officers. Sgt. Francis McCourt and Police Officers Nassir Wiley, Alexander Miller and Shyenna Vega joined the search for the suspect. Moments later, Officers Milne and Seickendick observed a man matching the suspect’s description nearby, and then saw that person get in a physical altercation with another man, at one-point drawing a knife. They approached the man with the knife and recognized him as 40-year-old Angelo Santiago of Hoboken. Officers retrieved the knife and Santiago was placed under arrest. All available officers arrived on the scene as backup, and Santiago was searched. A set of heavy-duty bolt cutters were found in his bag and a jagged glass cylindrical pipe burnt at one end was found in a pants pocket. Santiago was then transported to police headquarters where he initially refused to be fingerprinted. He also became uncooperative throwing himself on the ground while cursing and threatening police officers. He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of weapons for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, and refusal to submit to fingerprinting. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On February 5, 2024, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Police Officers Shyenna Vega, Alexander Miller, and Nassir Wiley responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting. Upon arrival they met with members of the loss prevention team who saw a man, later identified as 61-year-old Charles Gore of Jersey City, put approximately nine packages of meat and one container of juice into his cart but only scanned and paid for the juice and then left the store. Later that evening, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Police Officers Harry Montalvo and Anthony Azzoline were on patrol near ShopRite when an employee approached them and said there was another shoplifting taking place inside. Sgt. Jason Falco and Police Officers Jason Montalvo and Ricky Truppner arrived on the scene to assist. It was confirmed that Gore came back into the store, put items into a cart, but only paid for toilet paper and juice, and not meat and two winter hats which were also in the cart. Gore was placed under arrest for Shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On February 5, 2024, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Police Officers Harold Milne and Mark Mooreman responded to Hoboken University Medical Center on reports of two uncooperative patients. One of them, a female, left without issue. The other person was a man known to the officers as 65-year-old Ronald Crawford of Hoboken. They knew he was wanted on a warrant for a theft on January 19, 2024. That report, of a stolen bicycle, was taken at Hoboken Police Headquarters by Police Officer Roberto Cuevas Roberto. A follow-up investigation identified Crawford as the actor in that case. On Feb. 5, Crawford was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and processed on the warrant charging him with burglary, theft, possession of burglary tools, and criminal mischief. He was also found to have an open warrant from Hudson County. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On February 6, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Police Officer Anthony Rutkowski processed 46-year-old Tayeb Taybi of Union City who was brought to Hoboken Police Headquarters by Union City Police Officers. Tybi had an active warrant in Hoboken for disorderly conduct. After he was processed on the warrant, Taybi was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On February 6, 2024, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Police Officers Frank Losurdo and Arturo Gonzalez responded to the Hoboken Municipal Court to assist Police Officer Harry Montalvo who was with a male, later identified as 32-year-old Paul Barchitta of Hoboken, who had an active open warrant out of Hudson County for burglary. He was transported to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department in Jersey City, where he was to be processed, and later to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On February 6th, 2024, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Police Officers Nasir Willey, Harry Montalvo, Harold Milne, Alexander Miller, and Sheynna Vega responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting. Upon arrival officers met with a loss prevention officer who told them he saw two people filling their cart with items approximately $216.27 worth of items, but only scanned and paid for $30.75 worth of items. The two men, later identified as 26- year-old Surya Giri and 24-year-old Jalaj Mourya both of Hoboken, were arrested for shoplifting. They were transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where they were processed, given summonses, and released from custody.
On February 7, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Police Officers Jesse Castellano and Joshua Campoverde responded to the 200 block of Monroe Street on a report of a man seen taking packages from a residence. Upon arrival, they observed a man they knew as 33-year-old Gregory Freitas of Hoboken on a bike, who fit the description given by the caller. In the basket of the bicycle, officers saw a handful of items, including a nonstick iron, hair clips, and a case for electronic devices. It was learned that some of those items had been taken from a nearby residence. Freitas was placed under arrest for theft and a search incident to arrest found him to be in possession of a clear cylinder glass pipe commonly used to ingest CDS. He was also in possession of a closed package addressed to someone else and a bent credit card, commonly used to enter a structure to commit burglary. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property, and possession of burglary tools. He was processed on all charges and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On February 7, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller, Jayden Gonzalez, Frank Losurdo, Shyenna Vega, and Nassir Willey responded to the area of Bloomfield and Third Streets, where Sgt. Francis McCourt recognized a man as 19-year-old Daniel Campbell of Hoboken, who he knew was wanted by New Jersey Transit Police on an active warrant for robbery. Campbell was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where NJT PD officers took custody of Campbell.
On February 7, 2024, at approximately 6 p.m., Police Officers Nicholas Losurdo and Chelsea Tamborra responded to the 300 block of Bloomfield Street on reports of an active fight. Sgt. Edward Sellick, Sgt. Jason Falco, Sgt. Francis McCourt, and Police Officers Frank Losurdo, Alexander Miller, Nasir Wiley, and Shyenna Vega also responded to the scene. Upon arrival witnesses pointed out a man, who began to run away. Officers chased the man, who they recognized as 34-year-old Erick Figueroa-Gonzalez of Hoboken and caught him about a block away. During the arrest, Figueroa-Gonzalez became aggressive. Detective Sgt. William Collins and Detectives Tyler Soto, Brett Globke, Connor Milne arrived to assist. Figueroa-Gonzalez continued to be aggressive, used his body weight to resist arrest, and ignored verbal commands. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. An on-scene investigation revealed that Figueroa-Gonzalez approached another man in an aggressive manner and threw his food on the ground. A verbal argument turned into a physical altercation during which Figueroa-Gonzalez tried to hit the victim with his fists, threw a plastic soda bottle at his head, and hit him with a tablet. Figueroa-Gonzalez was charged with aggravated assault, obstructing the administration of law, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was released on a summons.
