The Kearny Recreation Department 2024 spring rowing season for all Kearny boys and girls in grades 6 to 8 starting Saturday, February 28, 2024 to May 22, 2024. Registrations will be held Monday through Friday starting Monday February 05, 2024 to Monday February 26, 2024. 9:00am to 4:30pm at the Recreation office in town hall or on-line at https://register.communitypass.net/townofkearny. Registration fee for this program is $50.00
Practice days, times and location will be.
- Location; Hartung Recreation center, 927 Passaic Avenue.
- Interest meetings for rowers and parents on Wednesday 21, 2024 at 7:00pm.
- Swim Test is Mandatory for all new rowers at Lincoln middle school pool.
- Swim tests will be held on Thursday February 29 at 6:00pm and Friday March 1 at 6:00pm.
- Practice days for all Rowers:
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
Practice times:
Wednesday – Thursdays 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Fridays 3:30pm to 6:00pm
Saturday’s 11:00am to 2:00pm

We believe that it is important to have the sport of rowing available for our youth in the community. The social, physical, and emotional benefits of rowing are boundless: a) as one of the most physically demanding sports, rowing enhances fitness and supports lifelong health and wellness; b) often called “the ultimate team sport,” rowing is ideal for instilling notions of persistence and self-efficacy; and c) because of its historical ties to universities, rowing is steeped in a college-going culture and rich educational networks.
