Case update February 20

On February 7, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Tucker responded to the flower store at the mall at Short Hills “Venus Et Fleur”, on a report of credit Card fraud. The store manager learned that the credit card that was used had been stolen. Millburn Police located the suspect in the mall. The investigation led to the arrest of Lemar Bunwarrie, age 25, of Wyandach NY. He was charged with forgery, credit card theft, theft by deception, and obstruction.

On February 9, 2024, Sgt. DeRosa and Officer Reid stopped a pedestrian walking on Rt 124 in front of Walgreens for having active warrants out of multiple jurisdictions. Robert Kopick, age 47, of Summit NJ was placed under arrest. Heroin and drug paraphernalia were located on the suspect. Kopick was charged with possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia. He was later lodged in Essex County correctional facility.

On February 9, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Genitempo responded to Macys in Short Hills on a report of theft that just occurred. Macy’s associates reported that Giuillervis Oropeza-Sanches, of Brooklyn NY, concealed $775.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 10, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Manuyag responded to Macys in Short Hills on a report of theft that just occurred. Macy’s associates reported that Alexander Govan, age 31 of Newark, concealed $279.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 10, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Genitempo responded to Macys in Short Hills on a report of theft that just occurred. Macy’s associates reported that Jonathan IZA-Acosta, age 34 of Manhattan NY, concealed $118.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 10, 2024 Millburn Police Officer Genitempo stopped a 2018 Honda Pilot on Rt 124 for a motor vehicle violation. The investigation led to the arrest of Divya Dodhia, age 45, of Jersey City, for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Murphy was charged with DWI and later released.

On February 13, 2024, Millburn Police responded to Neiman Marcus at the Short Hills Mall on a report of a theft that just occurred. Neiman Marcus associates reported that Charles Noseworthy, age 18, and Thomas Cucurillo, age 19, both from Staten Island NY concealed merchandise with a total value of $513.00. They were placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 14, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Tucker responded to Nordstrom’s in Short Hills on a report of theft that just occurred. Nordstrom’s associates reported Fortuna Mehovic age 31 and Blerta Nezaj both from NY, concealed $1,153.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 14, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Seebohm responded to Sephora in Short Hills on a report of theft that just occurred. Sephora associates reported that Kelly Zegarravillamil, age 20, of Belleville NJ, concealed $419.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 16, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Genitempo responded to Macys in Short Hills on a report of theft that just occurred. Macys associates reported that Shantese Pough, age 31, of Elizabeth NJ, concealed $276.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 16, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Dalakian responded to a Thackeray Drive residence on a report of two males looking into the windows of the residence. Officer Dalakian located a suspect laying down in a vehicle parked in front of the residence. The suspect then attempted to leave the area, but was detained by Millburn Police Officers. The suspect Nestor Florez-Sanchez age 24, of Newark was placed under arrest and was charged with obstruction, and resisting arrest. The other two actors fled the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On February 17, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Reid responded to Sunglass Hut in Short Hills on a report of theft that just occurred. Sunglass Hut associates reported that Giorgi Purtseladze age 41. Of New Providence NJ, concealed $433.00 of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On February 18, 2024 Millburn Police Detective Wichelns stopped a 2012 Lincoln MKZ on Old Short Hills Road for a motor vehicle violation. The investigation led to the arrest of Daquan Brown, age 22, of Homewood IL, for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Brown was charged with DWI, being an unlicensed driver, having an open alcohol container in vehicle and later released.

On February 19, 2024 Millburn Police Officer Lyons responded to Hardwell road on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officer Lyons stopped a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu on Old Short Hills Road for a motor vehicle violation. The investigation led to the arrest of Jonathan Quillay-Montesdeoca, age 26, of Irvington, for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, having an open alcohol container in his vehicle and later released.


These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty in a court of law.
