Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ALBERTO DELGADO (DOB: 05/17/1980; married; unemployed) of 49 Glenwood Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ for strict liability in a drug-induced death and drug distribution-related charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Lyndhurst Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Jarvis, Jr.

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, at approximately 11:52 a.m., the Lyndhurst Police Department responded to the Winslow Motor Hotel located at 204 Rutherford Avenue, Lyndhurst, NJ, and located an adult male who was unresponsive. The victim was pronounced deceased and identified as 54-year-old Luke Revell of Jersey City, NJ. Indicators of a possible drug overdose were noted, and detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force were notified.

A months-long investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lyndhurst Police Department into the death of Luke Revell and the related drug activity. The investigation revealed that ALBERTO DELGADO distributed a fatal dose of narcotics to the victim, causing his death.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, February 23, 2024, ALBERTO DELGADO was arrested in Bloomfield, NJ. DELGADO was charged with first-degree strict liability in a drug induced death, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-9; first-degree possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(1); second-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a park, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1; third-degree possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 1000 feet of a school zone, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7; third-degree distribution of cocaine, N.J.S.A. 2C:5b(3); third-degree distribution of fentanyl, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5(b)5; and third-degree possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5(b). ALBERTO DELGADO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Garfield Police Department, Lyndhurst Police Department, the Saddle Brook Police Department, and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
