An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that KURT ZIMMERMANN, while previously employed by the Westwood Regional School District as the Director of Bands, engaged in sexual conduct with a juvenile student between the ages of 13 and 17 on more than one occasion. The sexual conduct, which occurred in the past, was determined to have taken place at Westwood Regional Middle School in Westwood and at Westwood Regional High School in Washington Township.

The ongoing investigation revealed a second victim. Detectives determined that KURT ZIMMERMANN, while employed as a teacher at Morris Hills Regional District in Rockaway, NJ, engaged in sexual conduct with a juvenile student who was at least 16 years of age but under the age of 18. The sexual conduct occurred in the past.

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, KURT ZIMMERMANN was arrested in Rockaway, NJ and charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(3)(b) and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
