Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Cleveland Franklin (25), of Franklin Park, N.J. for trespassing, obstruction, and resisting arrest on April 12, 2024. On that date at approximately 1:30 pm, police headquarters received a call from Criger’s Services on Lane Road reporting two males who had entered the tow yard that contains the companies impounded vehicles.

It is alleged that the men arrived at the impound yard to retrieve personal belongings from a vehicle that had been towed there. When they were told they could not enter the facility, it is further alleged that Franklin entered through the locked gates in an attempt to obtain those items.

Upon police arrival, both men were located walking down Lane Road. Corporal Jeffrey Dean and Officer Andrew VanderWal located the two men and ordered them to stop. At that time, the men ran from the officers and were both detained a short time later.

After further investigation, it was determined that Franklin would be placed under arrest for trespassing, obstruction, and resisting arrest. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. Franklin was later released pending an initial court appearance on May 9, 2024, at the Fairfield Municipal Court.
