Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 35-year-old DONATO AVOLIO, formerly of Midland Park, NJ, on a sexual assault charge. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Wyckoff Police Department under the direction of Chief David Murphy.
On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the Wyckoff Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that DONATO AVOLIO sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of 13 in Wyckoff, NJ.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, March 28, 2024, DONATO AVOLIO was charged with second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b. AVOLIO was ultimately located and arrested on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, with the assistance of the Clifton Police Department and remanded to the Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
