Hoboken Police Arrest Blotter April 18, 2024 to April 24, 2024

On April 18, 2024, at approximately 3:05 p.m., Police Officer Ramon Estrella responded to Hoboken Police Headquarters to take over an arrest that had occurred earlier in the day after a woman reported her purse was stolen while she was walking on the 100 block of Madison Street. She followed the actor until he met with another man, later identified as 18-year-old Marquez Wright of Jersey City. Sgt. Francis McCourt and Police Officer Flores spotted a man who fit the description of Wright near the area of Observer Highway and Madison Street. At first, he gave the officers false personal information. He was positively identified by the victim and arrested. A search incident to arrest found him with five credit/debit cards that belonged to the victim and approximately $180 in cash. It was later learned one of the victim's cards was used three times. Wright was charged with theft, credit card theft, and hindering apprehension. He was released on a summons.

On April 20, 2024, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Police Officers Frank Losurdo and Christopher Barral were on the 300 block of Jackson Street when they saw a woman they recognized as 43-year-old Elizabeth Torres of Union City. They knew she had an outstanding warrant for trespassing in Hoboken. When they approached her, she refused to provide her correct date of birth. It was confirmed she had a warrant and a search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical pipe with a burnt end which is commonly used to smoke CDS crack cocaine and a plastic container containing a white powdery substance believed to be CDS crack cocaine. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing and charged with hindering apprehension, possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and defiant trespassing. She was ultimately released with a summons.

On April 20, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Police Officer Ramon Calderon responded to the intersection of 11th and Bloomfield Streets on reports of a vehicle crash involving two cars. One of the drivers was 28-year-old Kathleen Marron of Old Bridge. Officer Calderon observed her eyes to be watery and bloodshot and he sensed an odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from her breath. She was given a field sobriety test after which she was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. She received a summons for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and the use of a handheld device while driving. As per John’s Law she was released into the custody of a responsible party.

On April 20, 2024, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Police Officers Anthony Ingraffia and Remy Garcia-Marte were on the 500 block of Jackson Street when they observed a man they recognized as 55-year-old Brian Nealon of North Bergen who they knew was wanted for a warrant out of Hoboken. He was also wanted on a warrant in North Bergen. Police Officer Jessica Pizanie arrived on the scene to assist. Nealon was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was wanted for breaking into a vehicle on March 27, taking personal items, credit cards, and debit cards which he and another man used at multiple stores. He was charged with the unlawful use of credit cards and receiving stolen property. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. The other man, 33- year-old Jonathan Soto of Hoboken, was arrested on April 16. On April 20, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Rose Kanan responded to Dino and Harrys, 163 14th St. on reports of a man trying to fight other patrons in the restaurant. Sgt. Jason Falco and Police Officers Christopher Barral and Kyle Seper also responded to the scene. When they arrived, they observed a man, later identified as 39-year-old James Foley of Jersey City, bleeding from his face and yelling and acting belligerent. He failed to obey orders to sit down and while yelling, spit blood in officers' faces. He also threatened to fight restaurant staff and charged towards a crowd of people standing in the area. He continued to disregard orders and was told he was being arrested for disorderly conduct. During the arrest, Foley tensed up his arms and body while trying to push past the officers. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he refused medical attention by the Hoboken Ambulance Corps. While at the police station, he spat blood on the bench, floor, and wall of the processing room and yelled threats at officers. An investigation at the restaurant revealed that Foley had walked in and started to eat off the plates of patrons, opened the piano and hit keys, and got into a pushing match with the manager. When he walked away, he fell and hit his face on the ground. At police headquarters he refused to be fingerprinted. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement officers, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and refusing to be fingerprinted. He was given a copy of his summons and released.

On April 21, 2024, at approximately 6 p.m., Police Officers Daniel Barron and Mark Mooreman were on the 300 block of Fourth Street when they saw a woman they identified as 47-year-old Stacy Butler of Hoboken and knew she was wanted on a warrant. They placed her under arrest. It was confirmed she had two outstanding warrants for loitering to obtain or distribute CDS and possession of CDS. A search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical pipe with a burnt tip in her left pants pocket, which is commonly used to smoke CDS crack cocaine. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where she refused to be fingerprinted and threatened to urinate on any officers who tried to fingerprint her. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and refusal to submit fingerprints. She was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

On April 22, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m., Police Officer Jessica Pizanie responded to the 50 block of Park Avenue on reports of multiple package thefts. Residents of the building had surveillance video of a woman stealing packages from the building multiple times earlier in April. All items stolen added up to about $1,370.55. A few hours later, Detective John Quinones and Police Officer Mark Mooreman went to the same location on reports that the suspected actor was back in the area. She was gone by the time they arrived, but Det. Quinones was able to identify the actor in the surveillance video as 50-year-old Diane Luciano of Jersey City who also had two warrants out of Jersey City Police for package theft, and one from the Hudson County Sheriff's Office for package theft. She was further charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of package theft from residential property. On April 23, 2024, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Police Officer Roberto Cuevo saw Luciano while patrolling the area of Third and Harrison Streets. Police Officers Jonathan Figueroa and Jessica Pizanie arrived on the scene. The officers arrested Luciano and a search incident to arrest located a push rod in her pocket and a glass cylindrical pipe under her shirt. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing on all charges and an additional possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

On April 22, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Police Officers Ramon Calderon and Kyle Seper responded to ShopRite, 900 Madsion St., on reports of two shoplifters being detained by store security. An on-scene investigation found that the men, identified as 25-year-old Jose Luis Najera of West New York and 29- year-old Edgar Najera of Jersey City, were seen putting 15 boxes of toothpaste and 19 energy-style drinks in a cart before trying to leave without paying. A search incident to arrest of Jose Luis Najera located a cylindrical glass tube commonly used to consume CDS and two metal push rods. A search incident to arrest of Edgar Najera revealed a glass tube and two metal push rods. He was also found to have two plastic containers with white residue believed to be CDS, copper-colored wire, a silver utensil, and two metal push rods. Both were transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting, and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was learned that Edgar had one outstanding warrant in Hoboken and one from Union City. Jose had three outstanding warrants in Jersey City and one in Hoboken. They were ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

On April 22, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Police Officer Jesse Castellano processed 38-year-old Eugene Ortiz of Hoboken on charges of theft in connection to an investigation into a stolen e-bike on the 200 block of Washington St. on April 10, 2024. Officer Castellano and Detective John Quinones conducted a follow up investigation into the initial report taken by Police Officers Jesse Castellano and Jason Montalvo which involved obtaining surveillance video near the scene and along the route Ortiz took after the theft. Detectives were able to positively identify Oritz as the actor. After being processed on April 22, Ortiz was released with a court date.

On April 23, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Police Officers Aaron Font and Alexander Miller were on routine patrol on Washington Street when they observed a man sleeping on a bench near the intersection of Newark Street. The man, later identified as 22-year-old Rodolfo Gutierrez of Hoboken, matched the description of a suspect wanted for shoplifting at K1 Food Store, 131 Willow Ave., reported to Officers Font and Shaw Sodora the day before. Sgt. James Barbro arrived on the scene. Gutierrez was then placed under arrest for shoplifting. He was searched incident to arrest, which yielded a credit card that didn’t belong to him. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released on a summons.

On April 23, 2024, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Police Officers Kyle Seper, Dylan Archilla, and Damien Bates responded to Shoprite, 900 Madison St. reports of a man in custody for shoplifting. An on-scene investigation revealed that the actor, 45-year-old Michael John Denardo of Hoboken, was seen placing items in a bag in a cart and covering the bag with a newspaper. When he checked out, he only paid for a portion of the items in the cart, and he tried to leave with approximately $210.29 of unpaid merchandise. He was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on a shoplifting charge. He was released on a summons.

On April 23, 2024, at approximately 4:55 p.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and Anthony Azzoline responded to Acme, 614 Clinton St., on reports of a shoplifting. The store manager told officers he had seen a man fill up two reusable bags with merchandise worth a total of $453.22 and tried to leave without paying. When confronted by store security, he returned the items and left. During an on-scene investigation, officers recognized the actor in surveillance video and identified him as 33-year-old Angel Lopez-Sierra of Hoboken, who the officers located a short time later on the 600 block of Sixth Street. Police Officer Harold Milne also arrived on the scene. Officers approached him near the intersection of Jackson and 3rd Streets. He was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest located three metal rods, a small cylindrical green container, and two syringes. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. After being processed on all charges, he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

On April 24, 2024, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Sgt. Steven Kranz and Police Officers Jessica Arebalo, Jessica Pizanie, Roberto Cuevas, and Arturo Gonzalez responded to the 50 block of Jefferson Street for reports of an assault. An on-scene investigation revealed a verbal argument over a parking spot escalated when one man, later identified as 60-year-old Christopher Linton of Hoboken, grabbed a wooden plank. He opened the door of the other car and used the plank to strike the other driver in his head, torso, arms, and leg. Linton was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was charged with burglary, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon. After processing, Linton was released from custody.
