In early May 2024, a concerned citizen reported to the Secaucus Police that Josephine Dimoplon, 61, of Secaucus, was actively engaged in the illicit distribution of crack/cocaine. The Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit, under the supervision of Detective Sergeant Matthew Ford, launched an investigation to cooroborate or dispel the concerned citizen’s tip.

On May 17, 2024 at 7:46 P.M., detectives from the Anti-Crime Unit stopped Josephine Dimoplon in her motor vehicle on Centre Avenue after she failed to use her turn signal. Josephine Dimoplon was found in possession of a quantity of suspected crack/cocaine and was placed under arrest.

Secaucus Police K-9 Unit, Police Officer Tyler Pein and K-9 Brix were summoned to the stop and positively indicated that scent of illicit drugs was emanating from Josephine Dimoplon’s vehicle. A later search of the vehicle uncovered additional quantities of suspected crack/cocaine.

“I can assure residents that tips of criminal activity will never fall on deaf ears in Secaucus,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “The Secaucus Police Department will continue to work tirelessly to investigate tips that affect the quality of life of our residents. The Anti-Crime Unit is an integral part of our department, which has been proven over and over again by the results put forth and I am extremely proud to work alongside this dedicated group of law enforcement professionals.”

Josephine Dimoplon was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-5b(3)], Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-10a(1)] and Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 500 feet of a Public Park [2C:35-7.1a]. She was lodged in the Hudson County Jail.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Tips can be made by calling (201) 330-2049, emailed to spdtips@secaucusnjpolice.gov or submitted anonymously through the department’s website at www.secaucuspolice.org.
