Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
PSEG will begin gas line replacement work next week on Knickerbocker Road from Ivy Lane to Sussex Road. The work will take about 3 weeks. Plan alternate routes and expect delays and detours on Knickerbocker from 7 am to 6 pm each day.
Congratulations to THS Boys Tiger Tennis. They won their conference and were awarded the top seed in the NJSIAA playoffs. Playoffs begin next week. Great job to our Lacrosse team for besting Wayne Valley and moving to the playoffs for the first time in program history.
The Elks Memorial Day Parade lines up this Monday at 9:30 am on George Street and steps off at 10 am. Ceremony immediately after at Huyler Park followed by the traditional hot dog lunch at the Elks Lodge.
The Nature Center buildings will be closed on Memorial Day and admission will be waived in honor of the holiday.
The Tenakill Swim Club is opening this weekend! Dive into a new season of fun and fitness! Join the swim club for a world of adventure, community, and wellness.
The St. Thomas Armenian and Mediterranean Food Festival will take place from Noon to 6:00 pm, on Monday, May 27, Memorial Day, at the St. Thomas Armenian Church. There will be plenty of entertainment including music, a petting zoo, pony rides, clowns and more.
Mommy Daddy & Me on Saturdays 9:30 am to 11 am at the Presbyterian Church. Ages 5 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. Snacks will be served. Fun for children and adults! Free admission.
Photography artist Joey Shimm is currently exhibiting his recent work, “Stop Requested: Pandemic NYC Behind the Mask” at the Korean Community Center on Grove Street. The opening reception is tomorrow, Saturday, May 25th from 11 am to 3 pm and runs through June 7. The exhibition is free and is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
The JCC and the Lavish: Gallery Edition committee, invites you to an evening of art and philanthropy on Thursday, May 30th at 7 pm at the JCC. The 26th annual TEF 5K Run & Dog Walk, Stroller Trot, Cub Races, Dog Parade and 1-Mile Fun Run are June 2. Race Weekend events kick off Friday, May 31 with a 5k Party followed by a Saturday pre-race Pasta Party dinner and musical performance by the 8th Grade Honors Orchestra. Tenafly Public Schools - Bond Referendum: The strength and the value of our schools are integral to the quality of life in Tenafly. To maintain that, the Board of Education has been taking steps toward a bond referendum designed to include something for everyone in our community. The dedicated website tenaflyschools.org/vote breaks down the plan to Repair, Renovate and Renew our facilities.
And, save the date - Tenafly High School and the Athletic Department will be holding a community information session for the Athletic component of the upcoming referendum on June 12 at 7 pm in the High School auditorium.

Save The Date – Saturday, June 8 from 10 am to 2 pm, the Health and Wellness Fair is at the Senior Center. This is a free community event. Bring the family! Free exercise class at 11 am and free line dance class at 1 pm. Give-a-ways and fun. See you there.
The Fire Department is inviting everyone to an open house and equipment muster on Saturday, June 8th from Noon to 4:00 pm at the Fire Department Headquarters at 100 Riveredge Road. This event is to promote resident's interest in volunteering to serve the community. Enjoy a display of antique and new fire trucks from the area, a smoke house for fire prevention education, refreshments and more. Everyone is welcome to attend. The rain date is June 15th.
Registration is open for Nature Day at the Nature Center on Sunday, June 9th. Celebrate the start of summer at this outdoor, family friendly event and enjoy canoeing on Pfister’s Pond. This year’s theme features programs that explore TNC’s geology, fossils, history and culture.
