Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 46-year-old STACEY A. WILMARTH of Dumont, NJ on charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Dumont Police Department under the direction of Chief Brian Joyce.
On Monday, May 27, 2024, the Dumont Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged incident of child abuse. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Dumont Police Department revealed that STACEY WILMARTH physically assaulted a child under the age of 13 years old who was in her care.
As a result of the investigation, on Monday, June 3, 2024, STACEY WILMARTH was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with second-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1); and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2). WILMARTH was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending her first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Dumont Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
