On June 6, 2024, at approximately 2:35 a.m., Police Officers Andrias Bonilla, David Chicara, and Nicholas Protopapadakis responded to the area of Church Towers on reports that two men were jumping on a car parked at a fire hydrant. Sgt. Christopher Soto arrived on the scene. One of the men refused to identify himself or speak about what happened before officers arrived. He also yelled at the other man disturbing residents of nearby buildings. The man, later identified as 23- year-old Alejandro Cosme of Weehawken, was bleeding from both knees. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived to assess the injuries, and Cosme continued to act agitated, was uncooperative, and started to walk away. When he was told he couldn't leave, he yelled obscenities. An on-scene investigation determined there was no damage to cars, and both men were told they could leave. Cosme began to scream and curse as he walked away and was told if he continued to yell, he would be placed under arrest. Cosme then turned around and approached officers in an aggressive manner. He continued to get close to them and yell obscenities. After numerous warnings, Cosme was told he was being placed under arrest, during which he resisted by tensing up his arms and evading the placement of handcuffs on his left wrist. He was eventually safely put into handcuffs and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and released on a summons.
On June 6, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Police Officers Rose Kanan and Jason Montalvo responded to ACME, 614 Clinton St., on reports of a shoplifting. A description of the actor in this case matched the description of someone who had attempted to shoplift from CVS, 59 Washington St., earlier in the day whom officers identified as 39-year-old Christopher Johnson of Jersey City. The officers viewed store surveillance footage from the ACME and saw Johnson enter the store, place multiple soap packages in a bag and leave without paying. Police Officers Christopher Barral and Marc Lombardi located Johnson in the area of Second and Bloomfield Streets, where he was placed under arrest. While he was being arrested, he took a glass vial with suspected CDS PCP out of his pocket and threw it on the ground, causing the glass to shatter and liquid to splash out. A search incident to arrest located another glass vial with brown burnt residue suspected to be CDS PCP. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with possession of CDS, shoplifting, evidence tampering, and possession of drug paraphernalia. After processing Johnson was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. Johnson was later additionally charged with defiant trespassing for going into the CVS earlier in the day, despite having been advised multiple times he was no longer allowed in the store and that he would be issued a summons as a defiant trespasser if he went inside.
On June 7, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Police Officers Anthony Ingraffia and Nassir Willey were conducting a routine detail check of the Hoboken University Medical Center, 308 Willow Ave., when they saw 33-year-old Rodney Hamilton of Hoboken sleeping in the waiting room. They knew Hamilton had multiple complaints out of Hoboken and a warrant for his arrest. Officers Andrias Bonilla and Keven De La Cruz arrived on the scene to assist. Hamilton was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on multiple warrants including shoplifting, disorderly conduct, and harassment. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 7, 2024, at approximately 9:10 a.m., Police Officers Arturo Gonzalez and Anthony Olivera responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where store security recognized two actors from previous shoplifting incidents. One of the men, later identified as 47-year-old Michael Fortune of Hoboken, fled the store on a blue bicycle. Officer Olivera was able to catch up to him and detain him on the 600 block of Adams Street, with the help of a Union City Police Officer who was in the area. Sgt. Francis McCourt, Detective Michael Losurdo, and Officer Gonzalez arrived on that scene to assist with the arrest. Officer Gonzalez and Detective Losurdo went back to ShopRite where the other actor, identified as 44-year-old Martin Dunbar, Jr. of Jersey City, had been detained by store security officers but was attempting to leave the store. He yelled at store employees and officers and resisted arrest at first. Lt. Luke Zeszotarski, Sgt. Michael Straten, and Police Officers Jennifer Lee and Jessica Pizanie arrived on the scene. An on-scene investigation revealed that Dunbar had taken items that added up to approximately $33.33. He and Fortune also discarded other items that totaled approximately $88.94 when they realized employees were aware of their actions. Dunbar was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on robbery and resisting arrest charges. Fortune was ultimately transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on charges of shoplifting and resisting arrest. He was also charged with another shoplifting that had been reported the day before to Officers Lee and Pizane. On that day, Fortune took five bottles of liquor and left without paying before store security could stop him. Both Dunbar and Fortune were ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 7, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Police Officer Geovanni Cruzado and Mark Mooreman responded to the 50 block of River Street on reports of an unknown man who had trespassed in the basement and was being detained by building employees. Sgt. Adam Colon was on the scene where an investigation revealed the trespasser, later identified as 32-year-old Kim Sangmin of Fort Lee, was spotted by building employees in an emergency stairwell on the sixth floor and they chased him into the basement where he stayed until officers arrived. Sangmin was in possession of a key that accessed bathrooms in the building. He was arrested for defiant trespassing and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Officers located three metal lock pick tools in his possessions, and he was further charged with possession of burglary tools. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 8, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Police Officers Joshua Campoverde and Andrias Bonilla responded to Delight Liquors, 420 Washington St., on reports of a shoplifting. When they arrived, the store owner told them the actor who took a 12-pack of beer worth $16.99 that night, was the same individual who shoplifted from the store on June 4. Officers viewed surveillance video from the previous incident and identified the actor as 26-year-old Kayla Moreno of Hoboken. Police Officer Anthony Ingraffia saw Moreno inside Church Square Park and the store owner confirmed that she was the actor in both cases. She was placed under arrest for shoplifting, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing, and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 8, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Police Officer Anthony Ingraffia was patrolling the area of Green Rock, 70 Hudson St., when a bar security guard and other bystanders flagged him down to notify him of a man being disorderly outside the bar, trying to get into another business, and attempting to start fights. Officer Ingraffia located the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, and was able to identify him as 20-year-old Philip Bolisus of Rumson. Sgt. Christopher Soto and Police Officers Matthew Bonanno, Ricky Truppner, Bianca Arroyo, and Andrias Bonilla arrived on the scene to assist. Bolsius was told he would have to leave the area, but instead, he walked back toward the bar where he yelled profanities and became aggressive with security. When officers once again told him to leave the area, he began to walk into traffic and tap on windows of cars stopped at a red light. He was advised to get out of the street for his own safety, but he continued to walk in the road while yelling profanities at other people. He became engaged in a verbal altercation which escalated into a physical fight when Bolsius grabbed a male, pulled him to the ground and struck him. Bolsius was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was given a court date, a copy of his summons, and released from police custody.
On June 8, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m., Police Officers Marco Grossman and Tyrone Huggins responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifter being detained by store security. Upon arrival, the loss prevention officer told them he saw a woman, later identified as 31-year-old Hallie Pickard of Hoboken, place items into a personal bag. When she got to the register, she paid for items in her cart but tried to leave without purchasing the merchandise in the bag, which added up to $415.87. She was arrested for shoplifting, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released on a summons.
On June 9, 2024, at approximately 12:35 a.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and Shawn Sodora responded to the 100 block of Bloomfield Street on reports of a car crash. Sgt. Christopher Soto also responded to the scene, where one car had crashed into a parked car which caused a chain reaction that damaged three additional vehicles. The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Ronni Peguero Abreu of Bayonne, was unable to keep his balance as he exited the car, and officers found his speech to be slurred. He was unable to provide his license, registration, and insurance when asked multiple times. Police Officers Joshua Campoverde responded to conduct a standardized field sobriety test, after which Peguero-Abreu was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, driving with a suspended registration, and failure to exhibit documents. He was also charged with assault by auto within 1,000 feet of a school. As per John’s Law he was released into the custody of a responsible party.
On June 10, 2024, at approximately 5 p.m., Sgt. Francis McCourt and Police Officers Anthony Azzoline, Kyle Seper, Damien Bates, John Rodriquez, and Anish Bhisey, responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting. When they arrived, store security had 47-year-old Michael Fortune of Jersey City in custody. He had been seen earlier in the day, taking two bags of merchandise totaling about $292.98, and then leave without paying. When Fortune returned, he took and concealed three packages of T-shirts, worth about $41.97, inside a black T-shirt. He was stopped as he attempted to exit without paying. Fortune was arrested for shoplifting. During an on-scene investigation it was learned another man, later identified as 38-year-old Danilo Sanchez of the Bronx, began to record the situation as security was detaining Fortune and made threats toward employees. Sanchez was still in the store, and he was arrested for making terroristic threats. It was further learned he tried to steal bottled water and fish. A search incident to arrest located a damp rolled cigar leaf suspected to be CDS PCP and an orange pill bottle containing three powdery white rocks suspected to be CDS cocaine. He was also charged with shoplifting, possession of CDS with intent to use, and possession of CDS. Both men were processed at Hoboken Police Headquarters, and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 11, 2024, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Police Officer Anthony Azzoline arrested 24-year-old Ramiro Quirola-Vergara of West New York after he was transported to Hoboken by West New York Police. He had an outstanding warrant out of Hoboken for trespassing. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 11, 2024, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Police Officer Nicklas Valerius responded to Saki, 936 Park Ave., to assist Lt. David Olivera and Police Officer Jonathan Figueroa, who were stopped by a person who wanted to file a police report for a stalking, in which a former employee had been sending unwanted calls, texts, and emails and regularly showing up at the restaurant which frightened the woman which is what prompted her to approach the officers. The actor, later identified as 34-year-old Georgii Iusupov of Jersey City, was located on the 900 block of Park Avenue and he was placed under arrest. Police Officer Damien Bates arrived on the scene and transported Iusupov to Hoboken Police Headquarters to be processed. He was charged with stalking and released on a summons with a court date.
On June 12, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Police Officers Brandon Fitzgibbons and Tyrone Huggins responded to ACME, Clinton St., on reports of a shoplifting. Employees told officers at approximately 11 a.m. that morning, a woman, later identified as 26-year-old Lindsey Caverly of Keyport, came into the store, put several bottles of body wash and soaps into a bag, and left without paying. She was seen outside the store, with a man later identified a 25-year-old Joseph Ortiz of Rahway, and they both fled the scene. About an hour and half later, at approximately 12:35 p.m., Ortiz entered the store, put six large bottles of liquor into bags, and tried to leave without paying. He was stopped by employees. gave back the bottles and left. Ortiz was seen walking away with Caverly. At approximately 12:50 p.m., Sgt. Francisco Rosa and Police Officers Cuevas and Jonathan Figueroa spotted a female and male fitting the descriptions of both actors on the 400 block of Garden Street. Detective Michael Losurdo checked security footage and confirmed they were the actors in both incidents. Caverly and Ortiz were arrested, charged with shoplifting, and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Both were ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 12, 2024, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Police Officer Roberto Cuevas processed 67-year-old Adiela Adarve-Palacio of Hoboken who arrived at Hoboken Police Headquarters after receiving a complaint-summons generated by Detective Connor Milne who had investigated reports of a package theft on the 300 block of 13th Street on May 26, 2024. Police Officer Shelby Seickendick that report. Adarve-Palacio was fingerprinted and photographed and released with a court date.
On June 12, 2024, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Police Officers Shelby Seickendick and Jessica Arebalo responded to the intersection of Newark and Adams Streets to meet NJ Transit Police Detectives who had a suspect in custody after he was pointed out by a victim. The victim recognized the actor, later identified as 33- year-old Gregory Frietas of Hoboken, as the person who stole his package on June 7, 2024. That incident had been reported to Police Officer Roberto Cuevas, who investigated and was able to identify Frietas as the actor. On June 8, 2024, Officer Cuevas filed a warrant on charges of theft against Frietas. On June 12, a search incident to arrest of Freitas found a glass cylindrical pipe and a push rod, commonly used to ingest CDS crack cocaine. Freitas was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He refused to be fingerprinted and photographed. He was processed on the original theft charge, possession of drug paraphernalia, and refusal to be fingerprinted. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. Later that day, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Police Officers Enrico Gnassi and Nicklas Valerius responded to Willow Terrace on reports of a package theft. Using home security video, officers were able to identify the actor as Freitas. He was charged with another count of theft.
On June 12, 2024, at approximately 9 p.m., Sgt. Adam Colon was on patrol in the area of the Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA), when he observed 42-year-old Raul Reveron of Miami standing on the 200 block of Harrison Street. Officers knew him to have an outstanding warrant out of Hoboken. Sgt. Francis McCourt and Police Officers Harry Montalvo and Damien Bates arrived and Reveron was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Hoboken Police Department where it was discovered he had two warrants from Hoboken for attempted aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, and certain persons not to have a weapon. He also had a warrant out of Hudson County. He was transported to the Hudson County Correction Center.
