Guttenberg Police Blotter - June 17th, 2024 to June 23rd, 2024

1. On June 17th, 2024, while on patrol, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division observed two males getting into a physical altercation. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 26-year-old Royer E. Colotl of Union City, NJ, for simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)]. Mr. Colotl was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Colotl was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.

2. On June 17th, 2024, while on patrol, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division observed a motor vehicle accident involving a scooter on Bergenline Avenue. As officers were approaching the accident, the driver of the scooter fled the scene. The passenger of the scooter remained on-scene briefly and informed officers that he was not sure who the driver of the scooter was. Later, officers were able to locate the driver, who attempted to flee on foot. However, after a brief foot pursuit, officers arrested 26-year-old Frederick Castillo of North Bergen, NJ, for eluding [2C:29-2B], hindering apprehension [2C:29-3B], unlawful taking of means of conveyance [2C:20-10B], resisting arrest [2C:29-2A(2)], and receiving stolen property [2C:20-10.2] after officers discovered that scooter he was operating was stolen. Officers also uncovered that the passenger did know who the driver of the scooter was, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Luis J. Delacruz of Jersey City, NJ, for hindering the apprehension of another [2C:29-3A(7)]. Both defendants were transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for their arrest processing. Upon the completion of their arrest processing, Mr. Castillo was issued his complaint warrant and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center. Mr. Delacruz was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.

3. On June 17th, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 67th Street and Park Avenue, after receiving a report from the West New York Police Department of an assault involving a knife. During their on-scene investigation, officers discovered that an individual sustained lacerations to his hands, after attempting to approach a large group with two knives. As the result of their investigation, officers arrested 23-year-old Silvino Tepetl-Paez of West New York, NJ, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon [2C:12-1B(2)], unlawful possession of a weapon [2C:29-5D], and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose [2C:29-4D]. Mr. Tepetl-Paez was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Tepetl-Paez was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.

4. On June 18th, 2024, the Guttenberg Police Department was contacted by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, informing our agency that they had a male in custody with an active warrant, issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Shortly after, officers from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the Guttenberg Police Department, where our officers arrested 21-year-old Adrian I. Ruiz of Union City, NJ, for the active warrant. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Ruiz was released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.

5. On June 19th, 2024, our agency was contacted by the Jersey City Police Department, informing us that they had a male in their custody with an active warrant, issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Shortly after, officers of the Jersey City Police Department arrived at our police headquarters, where our officers arrested 32-year-old Julio A. RosadoRosario of Jersey City, NJ. Upon the completion of his processing, Mr. Rosado-Rosario was transferred into the custody of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, after it was discovered that he had an additional warrant issued by their agency.

6. On June 19th, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 42-year-old Fernando Orozco-Peralta of West New York, NJ, after he walked into our police headquarters with an active warrant, issued by the West New York Municipal Court. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Orozco-Peralta was transferred into the custody of the West New York Police Department.

7. On June 20th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 35-year-old Jhad S. Awawda of North Bergen, NJ, after discovering that he was in possession of thirty-two (32) prescription pills, not prescribed to him. At police headquarters, Mr. Awawda was charged with the possession of prescription legend drugs [2C:35-10.5E(2)]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Awawda was issued his complaint summons, a summons for traffic violations, and then released from police custody.

8. On June 20th, 2024, while on patrol, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 35-yearold Jennifer Abreu of Guttenberg, NJ, for two active warrants, issued by the Guttenberg and East Hanover Municipal Courts. Ms. Abreu was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. Upon the completion of her arrest processing, Ms. Abreu was released on her own recognizance, pending her next court appearances with the Guttenberg and East Hanover Municipal Courts.


The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
