On June 13, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m., Detectives John Quinones and Christine Collins and Police Officer Jesse Castellano recognized 33-year-old Armando Torres of Jersey City walking on the 600 block of Clinton Street. Officer Castellano had issued a warrant for Torres earlier that day, charging him with burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools. The charges stem from reports of a package theft on the 400 block of Grand Street, reported to Police Officer Frank Francolino on June 6, 2024, and investigated by Officer Castellano who identified the actor as Torres. A search incident to arrest discovered a glass cylindrical pipe with the burnt end stuffed with copper wire mesh and a white colored pen insert, all commonly used to prepare CDS to be inhaled. Torres was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and processed on the active warrant for burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools, and a new charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Torres was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 13, 2024, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Detective Paul Quinn and Police Officer Jesse Castellano observed a man walking around the parking lot at the Hoboken Police Department, 106 Hudson St. The man appeared to be confused. Detective Fabian Quinones arrived on the scene to assist with translation, as the man’s primary language was Spanish. Det. Sgt. William Collins arrived on the scene. The man was identified as 26-year-old Mariano Luna-Grande of Perth Amboy, and it was discovered he was wanted on a warrant from Perth Amboy. He was arrested, brought into Hoboken Police Headquarters, and processed on the warrant complaint. Luna-Grande was released with a court date.
On June 14, 2024, at approximately 10:05 a.m., Police Officers Enrico Gnassi and Michael Aviles, responded to the area of Newark and Washington Streets, on reports of a package theft in progress. Upon their arrival, they saw a man who fit the description of the actor, later identified as 60-year-old Albert Guzman of Jersey City, walking up the stairs of a building on the 50 block of Washington Street. Police Officer Anthony Azzoline arrived to assist. Officers met with the original caller who told them he saw Guzman rummaging through a package. Guzman dropped the package, and the caller took it, along with another stolen package he found in a shopping bag Guzman was carrying. He was placed under arrest for burglary, theft of packages from a residential building, and criminal attempt burglary. A search of the shopping bag located a box cutter. Guzman was also charged with possession of burglary tools.
On June 14, 2024, at approximately 10:40, Detective Luis Rodriguez processed the arrest of 29- year-old Alexander Lopez of Jersey City. Lopez had been at Hoboken Police Headquarters the day before on another matter, and after he had left, Det. Rodriguez observed a single white waxlike fold containing a brownish powdery substance suspected to be CDS/Herion lying on the chair Lopez had sat on. Lopez was called back to headquarters where he was charged with possession of CDS heroin. After being processed he was released with a copy of the complaint.
On June 14, 2024, at approximately 1 p.m., West New York Police Officers arrived at Hoboken Police Headquarters to drop off 49-year-old Kenneth Salazar of Union City, who was wanted in Hoboken on a warrant for shoplifting. Officer Michael Aviles processed Salazar on the charges before he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 17, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Police Officers Anthony Ingraffia and Shawn Sodora were on roving patrol, when they observed two individuals in the vestibule of Blue Foundry Bank, 330 Washington St. Due to multiple complaints from business owners, employees, and residents regarding individuals trespassing and sleeping in vestibules, the officers approached the pair later identified as 40-year-old Jose Gonzalez of North Bergen and 29-year-old Crystal Bent of Hoboken. They exited the vestibule. While gathering their belongings, officers observed a glass pipe, burnt at both ends, fall out of Bent’s pocket. Gonzalez then stepped on the pipe, causing it to break into pieces. Police Officers Joshua Campoverde and Alexander Miller arrived on the scene to assist. Bent and Gonzalez were placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Gonzalez was charged with evidence tampering. Bent was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She also had an open warrant out of Hudson County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated assault on law enforcement. Both Gonzalez and Bent were transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 17, 2024, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller and Police Officer Harold Milne responded to the 300 block of Adams Street on reports of a man trespassing in a residential parking lot. The individual was observed by off-duty Police Officer Mark Grossman who suspected the man was under the influence of illegal narcotics. Upon arrival, they identified the man as 40-year-old Kyle Campbell of West New York and determined he had accessed the property illegally. It was learned he had open warrants from Hoboken and Bayonne. A search incident to arrest located eight hypodermic needles, one of which was uncapped and appeared to be used. Officers also found five sealed wax folds containing a powdery substance suspected to be CDS heroin. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and defiant trespassing. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 18, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Police Officers Enrico Gnassi and Joseph Lupo responded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny to pick up and transport 39- year-old Flavio Ordonez of Union City to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing on a warrant for burglary and theft. The warrant was in connection to multiple reports of package thefts in the same building on the 1000 block of Jefferson Street over many weeks. A follow-up investigation by Police Officer Chelsea Tamborra identified the actor as Ordonez. After being processed on the theft and burglary charges, he was transported back to the correctional facility on other criminal charges.
On June 18, 2024, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Police Officers Harold Milne and Shelby Seickendick were on the 300 block of Jackson Street when they saw a man in a private courtyard of the Hoboken Housing Authority, who they did not recognize. Officers followed the individual to the 300 block of Harrison Street where he was observed trying to go inside but couldn’t. He then walked up the stairs to another building and entered behind a licensed resident, but immediately came outside which is when the officers approached him. The man identified as 42- year-old Kevin Kavanagh of Ridgefield was placed under arrest for trespassing. A search incident to arrest located a yellow plastic straw containing a powdery residue and a pill which he did not have a prescription for. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and processed on charges of possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, loitering to obtain CDS, and defiant trespassing. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
On June 19, 2024, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Police Officers Roberto Cuevas, Anthony Azzoline, Jayden Gonzalez, and Shyenna Vega were on patrol of the Hoboken Housing Authority when they were informed that there was a man carrying a syringe in his hand inside a building on the 500 block of Jackson Street. As they walked toward the location, they observed the man, later identified as 56-year-old Richard Maldonado of Jersey City, who they stopped and observed him carrying a gold chain. Officers located a small jewelry box nearby and discovered a small round of ammunition inside. Sgt. Jason Falco and Lt. David Olivera arrived on the scene. It was confirmed Maldonado had an active warrant out of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department. He was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest located a metal push rod commonly used for CDS cocaine and an access card to Hoboken Housing Authority property, which did not belong to him. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with theft of mislaid property, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
